In the thirteenth week, the Void Army ate away at the Milky Way from every direction. Within a single week, one hundred million stars vanished along the front of the Number Nine Defense Zone alone. The same thing happened elsewhere.
On the star map simulated by the micro-wormhole detection network, the Milky Way could be seen shrinking before their eyes! It resembled a flatbread being devoured by swarms of ants, its borders chewed into jagged edges like the teeth of a gear.
In the legion's conference channel, representatives of numerous civilizations discussed the situation anxiously.
Among them, Lusa of the Golden Crow Race urged, "This won't do. We can't let this continue."
"A few star river-level Void Lifeforms can wipe out a star system. Across all seventy-two defense zones, we lost seven billion stars in one week!"
"That's an average of a billion a day! How many star systems does our Milky Way have to feed them?"
"I demand that all your fleet groups deploy immediately. At the very least, hold a few positions along the borders and draw the Void in!"
One civilization's representative said worriedly, "Hold our positions? We won't last long at all. The Void will keep committing troops until it wipes us out completely."
Lusa glared at him. "In the Number Fifteen Defense Zone, the Void has already reached the borders of the Nightglow Race's civilization. The inhabitants there have been forced to abandon their homes."
"The Number Thirty-One Defense Zone is no different. The latest territory to fall was only twenty-five light-years from the Medicinal Jade Race's homeworld. Are they supposed to abandon even their homeworld?"
"The Number Forty-Four Defense Zone! The Number Fifty-Eight Defense Zone! They truly can't retreat any farther either."
"So this is a matter of choice. Do we sacrifice our armies,
