On the afternoon of April 13, a formidable convoy of armored vehicles arrived at Kunlun Pass in Qinghai.
In another fourteen hours, at 7:45 the following morning, an earthquake would strike Yuzhu.

Huang Ji smiled. "Just find an open space and summon him. Where's the maltose I asked you to prepare?"
"S-summon?" Yu Mo Shuo said. "I've prepared two tonnes of maltose. If that's not enough, I can get more. That's all easy enough, but what exactly are you planning?"
Huang Ji drew an intricate, beautiful geometric pattern. It looked like a blend of writing and illustration, full of symmetry and a certain fractal beauty.
He handed it to Yu Mo Shuo. "When the time comes, enlarge this diagram a hundredfold and draw it on the ground with maltose. I believe he'll show up before long."
"Don't tell me you've given me a summoning circle!" Yu Mo Shuo exclaimed.
Huang Ji smiled. "You can call it that if you like. Really, it's the same sort of thing as a crop circle."
