The Kunlun Mountain Range stretched roughly 2,500 kilometers.

It formed the backbone of the mountains in western Hua Country, narrow in the west and broad in the east. At a pass in Qinghai, strange peaks towered above long ridges that fanned outward like a gateway.

Huang Ji led the group up to Kunlun Pass. Before them, countless peaks and ravines spread across the vast mountains, snowy summits and hills rose and fell, and clouds and mist shifted unpredictably overhead.

"Look. There's a glacier down there," Huang Ji said, pointing below.

The others gazed at the jagged ice mounds, ever-changing ice spires, and plateau permafrost that never thawed.

Some ice mounds stood several meters high, others more than ten. Beneath them ran an underground stream that never dried up. Break through the ice, and groundwater would gush out in a fountain.

Some ice spires stood a meter or two high, others seven or eight. They grew constantly, then burst apart. Some eruptions shot slurry twenty or thirty meters into the air with a tremendous roar.

Though the broad stretches of permafrost at Kunlun Pass never thawed, green grass grew in the meadows above them. In midsummer, brilliant wildflowers would bloom among the grass, turning it into a grassland atop frozen earth.

Huang Ji suddenly said, "That glacial river is Cold-Heat Water. Jade Void Peak and Jade Immortal Peak stand on either side of Kunlun Pass."

"Jade Void Peak is east of the pass. Snow blankets it year-round, clouds and mist coil around it, and snow can even fall there in June. Ice spires cover its broad, imposing cliff face like a hanging curtain."

"Jade Immortal Peak is west of the pass. Ice mounds rise everywhere, waterways run beneath the ice, and fountains often burst upward in clouds of white spray."
