As far as the eye could see lay open wilderness.
Twelve banners fluttered in the distant sky, and the so-called North City Camp was actually still quite a distance from the city's northern outskirts.
Chen Mu walked out of the city gate holding a palm-sized Bronze Token.
One side of the token bore a raised ghost face with glaring eyes and bared fangs, while the other was engraved with the characters Jigu. It was the identity token that had just been issued, already bound to Chen Mu's Qi Mechanism.
"Which camp are you headed to, Boss Le?" Chen Mu looked at Le Yang'an beside him.
Le Yang'an toyed with the Ghost Face Bronze Token and nodded toward a Soul Summoning Banner to the east. "Probably Flag C."
"What a pity." Chen Mu wore a regretful expression.
The pull on his body came from the westernmost Soul Summoning Banner. Clearly, he and Le Yang'an were not headed to the same place.
Boss Le had arrived in the Netherworld before him and was well-informed. Chen Mu had hoped they would be assigned together.
Unfortunately...
"Take care." Chen Mu spoke solemnly.
"Until we meet again." Le Yang'an tossed the Bronze Token up, caught it, gave a slight cupped-fist salute, and departed calmly.
"Is this Boss Le really that impressive?" Shi Dechun, who had long been waiting by the city gate, somehow sidled over.
"He's far more than merely impressive." Chen Mu sighed, thinking of that entire cabinet full of figurines.
With those paper effigies, Le Yang'an could form an army all by himself at any time. How could he not be formidable?
"By the way, weren't the people you knew already gone? Why are you still here?" Chen Mu shot Shi Dechun a glance.
