Wind and Fire Blaze the Plains, Slaying the Soul Ancestor! (Seeking Follow-ups, Seeking Collections!)
"At such a young age, you're already a Soul Elder. You must have received special training in Spirit Hall. When I use your badges to earn my freedom, those old masters from Spirit Hall are sure to have quite the look on their faces."
The man burst into laughter. The fur of his Azure Wolf Spirit stood on end as it bared its fangs!
"You two little geniuses picked the wrong person to provoke. For the sake of your ignorance, surrender obediently. Perhaps I'll grant you a quick death."
Qian Gu Changkong stepped forward with his staff in hand. "You've never fought us. How do you know what we're capable of?"
"Wu Ge, use that move."
With a loud shout, another layer of flames wrapped around the Coiling Dragon Staff.
This time, however, he did not attack first. Instead, he began twirling the Coiling Dragon Staff where he stood.
Wu Qi hovered in midair, a purple Soul Ring shining beneath his feet.
"Third Spirit Skill, Raging Windstorm!"
The wings of the Azure Luan Spirit flapped, stirring up fierce gusts of wind.
Several gusts merged together, sweeping up the undying flames on the Coiling Dragon Staff.
The flames released by Qian Gu Changkong were relatively weak, but bolstered by the raging wind, they now threatened to spread across the plains!
The fierce wind ignited, and its destructive power rose exponentially.
"How is this possible?!" The man's expression changed drastically, and none of his earlier composure remained.
An ancient exotic beast was sealed within the Coiling Dragon Staff, and the flames on the spirit had come from it.
The fire tornado "roared" as it tore apart everything caught within it.
The two had practiced the coordination between their Soul Skills countless times. Now that they unleashed it, it was already at its peak.
"It may look intimidating, but it's all for show!"
The man flew into a rage. The sole purple Soul Ring beneath his feet flashed with light.
His aura instantly rose to another level as he charged straight at the fire tornado.
Wind-control Soul Skills primarily focused on restraint; their power itself was not particularly strong.
But that was enough. Their opponent did not know that after Wu Qi released his Soul Skill, he did not need to remain in place and continuously channel Soul Power.
As the man was held back by the fire tornado, Wu Qi swiftly circled behind him and activated his First Soul Skill.
He had not slacked off during these five years of training. His First Soul Skill, Wind Blade Flight, no longer needed a Soul Ring to be released!
Under his control, the Feather Blades condensed into a massive blade and slashed toward the man!
Although Wu Qi's Soul Power Level was not high, the fire tornado he had stirred up was incredibly visually striking.
Even from far away, it could still be seen clearly.
The criminals wandering outside the city began converging on this place.
With such a huge commotion, both sides would surely be exhausted once the battle ended.
These people were no saints. All of them wanted to rush to the battlefield and pick up some benefits.
The pincer attack from the fire tornado and Wu Qi shattered the man's Fourth Soul Skill state. Immediately afterward, Qian Gu Changkong charged out from the side and plunged a poison-coated dagger into the man.
Poisoned and with every route of retreat sealed off, the man ultimately fell to the ground in bitter defeat.
The battle ended. Wu Qi wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a breath of relief.
Taking advantage of the terrain and their coordinated Soul Skills, they had still needed poison in the end to take this man down.
Wu Qi could not help suspecting that this guy was most likely not a low-level Soul Ancestor!
Qian Gu Changkong could not help but laugh. "Good thing Little Deer discovered the poison for us. Otherwise, killing this guy would probably have taken quite a bit more effort."
After finding the poison in the wilderness earlier, Wu Qi had decided not to waste it and had Qian Gu Changkong crush it up and smear it on the dagger. He had not expected it to prove useful at such a critical moment.
With the Purple Badge in hand, Qian Gu Changkong's mission could finally be considered complete.
Suddenly, the two realized something was wrong. "It seems we never asked how we're supposed to leave."
If they flew straight out of Death Grand Canyon, the Spirit Hall guards stationed around its perimeter might very well mistake them for "prison breakers" and shoot them dead on the spot.
Before they could think further, sounds of battle came from nearby.
The criminals lurking in the wilderness were no decent folk. In their rush to reach Wu Qi's battlefield and scavenge some gains, they ran into one another along the way and immediately started fighting.
Without realizing it, they had resolved a crisis for the two.
Wu Qi frowned. "Let's go back the way we came. Maybe someone is waiting to receive us."
To avoid running into those criminals, Wu Qi grabbed Qian Gu Changkong by the arm, and the two retreated through the air.
They did not waste much time. Following the path they had taken in, they reached the end of the canyon, where Thousand Jun Douluo had already been waiting for a long time.
"Grandpa, we completed our mission."
Qian Gu Changkong rushed forward excitedly and took out the Purple Badge.
Thousand Jun Douluo nodded. "You've done well. The mission in Death Grand Canyon was completed successfully."
On the way back to Martial Soul Hall, Thousand Jun Douluo could not help asking, "Do you know what completing the Death Grand Canyon trial signifies?"
Qian Gu Changkong looked confused.
Wu Qi, however, recalled something.
In the original timeline, Hu Liena and the other two had entered Martial Soul Hall's Golden Generation precisely because of their achievements during the Death Grand Canyon trial.
Wu Qi did not know what missions they had received, but his survival mission was clearly the least valuable of them all.
Seeing his expression, Thousand Jun Douluo smiled helplessly. "Kid, there's no need to belittle yourself."
"I saw the battle just now. You killed a level forty-four Soul Ancestor despite being at a lower level. You were the main force; Changkong merely assisted from the side."
Only the Papal Hall could nominate members for the Golden Generation. However, Wu Qi and the other had contributed almost nothing to Martial Soul Hall, and having completed only one trial mission was still far from enough.
"Third Brother said that you'll be entering Spirit City Academy next. You'll be closer to us old fellows, making it easier for us to guide your future cultivation."
Martial Soul Hall Academy was the dream of countless people, and Qian Gu Changkong was no exception.
Wu Qi, on the other hand, seemed somewhat unwilling.
Thousand Jun Douluo noticed it but said nothing.
Upon returning to the Worship Hall, the two returned safely after a month of training, and the several enshriners could not help praising them.
Still, the dangers they had encountered during this trial had not been fatal, causing Qian Gu Changkong to develop thoughts he should not have had.
"Grandpas, are you sure the Death Grand Canyon trial is really difficult?"
The moment he spoke, Wu Qi hurriedly covered his mouth.
It was not that the trial was easy, but that Wu Qi could fly, allowing them to avoid fatal dangers. Moreover, for a long stretch afterward, they had hidden in the outskirts, avoiding many unnecessary conflicts.
If they had drawn a mission that had to be carried out in the inner city, it would have been certain death for them.
Qian Daoliu did not respond, but Thousand Jun Douluo stepped forward and kicked him. "You little brat, this isn't a place for you to spout nonsense! Do you have no idea why you were able to complete the mission so quickly?"
Seeing the expressions of the enshriners and Wu Qi, Qian Gu Changkong silently lowered his head without saying another word.
Qian Daoliu raised a hand. "Sixth Brother, young people tend to be rash. It's understandable."
"Third Brother, take them away first. Handle the subsequent arrangements as you see fit."
After leaving the Worship Hall, Qian Gu Changkong felt as though he had been granted a reprieve.
"That scared me to death. If Grandpa Qian got angry, Grandpa would probably hang me up and whip me again."
Among the great enshriners, Guang Ling Douluo was the easiest to talk to, followed by Azure Luan Douluo.
Azure Luan Douluo smiled faintly. "The reason Sixth Brother was angry was because you lack a heart of reverence."
