Since the protagonist was going to travel around after breaking through to the Nascent Soul Middle Stage, I also needed to eliminate as many dangers near the family as possible beforehand.

Third, there was the issue of the Song Family currently appearing stronger than the Carefree Sect, making the cultivators' advancement seem somewhat unreasonable.
(Actually, judging purely from the surface—and not counting the protagonist, who held positions on both sides—the Song Family was far inferior to the Carefree Sect.
Whether among the lower-level Qi Refinement and Foundation Establishment Cultivators, or the higher-level Golden Core Elders, the Song Family still had a long way to go before its foundations could catch up to those of a sect.)
