Background

Returning Truth Sect

Qingshan was selected by the Returning Truth Sect and sent to Yellow Ganoderma Mountain, a development his family initially viewed with alarm rather than fortune 1. After more than five months in the sect, Inner Disciple Wu Yuan chose him as one of six Servant Disciples for a deadly spirit-herb expedition across the Chengyang River 11.

Before the mission, Qingshan revealed that a blood-activated bluish-purple jade pendant let him control a powerful corpse beneath Yellow Ganoderma Mountain, though using it exhausted him completely. Believing he might die, he gave the pendant to Lu Qingfeng and asked him to avenge him if necessary 11.

Wu Yuan severely injured Qingshan during the escape attempt. Even while wounded, Qingshan insisted that the five surviving servants be killed before they could expose the siblings. The scars later found across his body revealed the abuse he had endured as a Servant Disciple 13.

Early Cultivation and Escape

After escaping the Returning Truth Sect, Qingshan began cultivating under Lu Qingfeng. His better Root Bone gave him an advantage over Qingyu, but he still lagged behind his elder brother’s experience and progress 15 19.

In Miao Yin City, he remained alert and distrustful of outsiders. When Daoist Miao Yin appeared in the siblings’ courtyard, Qingshan confronted her with a Nine Ring Saber and suspected she had been sent by the Returning Truth Sect 48. He later learned to direct puppets in dangerous situations, ordering a hidden puppet to intercept an attacker who attempted to capture him 59.

Azure Origin Sword Sect

Lu Qingfeng, Qingshan, and Qingyu established the Azure Origin Sword Sect at Fu Jiang Cliff as the Three Azure Ancestors 75. Qingshan had long wanted to establish a sect and embraced the position, devoting himself to building the Azure Origin Sword Sect into Shangyang Kingdom’s leading sect 75.

When Lu Qingfeng prepared to leave Shangyang Kingdom, he entrusted the sect’s management to Qingshan. Lu Qingfeng also warned him that overseeing the growing organization had distracted him from his own cultivation 75 76.

Sunset Glow Sect

Qingshan later remained at Jinyun Peak to cultivate independently within the Sunset Glow Sect while Lu Qingfeng and Qingyu settled at Silver Horn Mountain 101. He formed a close circle with Zhang Ye, Qian Yunhai, and Feng Bai, often completing sect missions alongside them 106.

During the sect’s seven-day Small Competition, Qingshan defeated numerous stronger True Qi disciples—including Zhou Chu, a ninth-layer True Qi True Inheritance Disciple—and claimed first place 110 111. His victory established him as more than Grand Elder Lu Qingfeng’s younger brother and earned the respect of the sect’s disciples and elders 111.

He received the reinforced Seven Fiends Banner through the competition, an arrangement Lu Qingfeng devised to protect him without undermining his independence 112. Qingshan later completed four of the banner’s nine restrictions in one month 117.

Wandering and Sword Inheritances

Recognizing that the Juyun Mountain Range could no longer support his growth, Qingshan chose to leave and gain experience in the wider cultivation world. Lu Qingfeng advised him to travel north around the Crying Swamp before turning east, avoiding the orthodox-demonic war and instability in the Three Realms 306.

Lu Qingfeng secretly arranged for three peak Core Formation Capitals Heavenly Ghost Generals to protect Qingshan during his travels without interfering with his tempering 334.

Qingshan later obtained the inheritance of the Pasture Wilds Sword Venerable, Zhou Mu, at Cloud Platform Mountain. The inheritance connected him to the Floating Mountain Sect and its upper-realm lineage 504. He subsequently considered entering Guangling Mountain’s Shattering Antiquity Peak branch, whose lineage matched his Thirteen Forms of Po Gu Swordplay 666.

Appearance

Qingshan’s presentation changes with his circumstances, from a guarded survivor to an itinerant sword cultivator.

Personality

Qingshan began as a frightened but increasingly resolute youth. Facing the Chengyang River mission, he feared death but still prepared himself to endure it and asked Lu Qingfeng to tell Qingyu that he had faced it bravely 11.

He is alert, blunt, and protective of his family. His suspicion of Daoist Miao Yin and his immediate readiness to confront an intruder reflected habits formed under the Returning Truth Sect’s oppression 48.

Qingshan also values recognition and personal achievement. He once felt that cultivating in obscurity was like “wearing fine clothes at night,” and he took genuine pride in the status gained through the Azure Origin Sword Sect 57 75. As he matured, this desire became a drive for independence: he rarely visited Silver Horn Mountain, focused on sect missions and resources, and sought to step out of Lu Qingfeng’s shadow 112.
