Background

Lu Qingyu grew up in Blackwood Stockade with her elder brother Lu Qingfeng and second brother Lu Qingshan. Nearing twelve, she already performed exhausting labor such as carrying water and working the terraced fields, yet remained spirited and talkative despite the stockade’s oppressive conditions 1 4.

When Qingshan was taken by the Return-to-Truth Sect, Qingyu fiercely rejected the news at first and later shared Qingfeng’s resolve to rescue him. She guarded Qingfeng while he secretly attempted real-world cultivation, promised to keep his secret, and eagerly asked to learn reading so she could cultivate alongside her brothers 1 4 5.

Qingyu trusted Qingfeng completely during the siblings’ escape from Blackwood Stockade. She waited with him at the dock, endured the dangerous river journey after Qingshan’s rescue, and remained devoted to reuniting the family 12 13 14.

After reaching Miaoyin City, she gained the freedom to explore, enjoy food and clothing, and live beyond the deprivation of Blackwood Stockade. She nevertheless continued cultivating and supported dangerous efforts to save victims of the River God Sacrifice, valuing lives above the loss of replaceable puppets 46 51 57.

Appearance

As a child, Qingyu was thin, small, and weathered by labor and sun, appearing seven or eight despite nearing twelve. Better food and safety in Miaoyin City gradually restored her fair complexion and filled out her figure; she later developed into a graceful young cultivator 1 46 105.

Her trust in Qingfeng is nearly absolute: she accepted his escape plan without hesitation and believed he could save Qingshan from the Return-to-Truth Sect 12. She is also compassionate and impulsively brave, urging the siblings to risk their puppets to rescue children offered in the River God Sacrifice 51.

Although initially carefree and dependent on Qingfeng’s protection, Qingyu becomes increasingly independent.
