Background

Lu Qingshan grew up with Lu Qingfeng and Lu Qingyu in Blackwood Stockade under the shadow of the Return-to-Truth Sect. After being selected by the sect, he entered Huangzhi Mountain as a handyman disciple; his elder brother brought him rations every seven days. Though initially timid, Qingshan became sturdier and more self-assured during his months in the sect, regularly reporting its conditions to Qingfeng and seeking his advice. 1 11

His position remained exploitative. Chosen as a servant for inner disciple Wu Yuan’s herb-gathering expedition, Qingshan used the assignment as the siblings’ opportunity to escape. Wu Yuan severely injured him when the plan was exposed, but Qingshan endured the injury and insisted that the five servants who had previously bullied him not be left alive. 12 13

After the escape, Qingshan preserved a booklet documenting the abuse he had suffered under steward Zhang Chong and others. His hatred of the sect did not erase his restraint: when Zhang Chong deliberately provoked him in Miaoyin City, Qingshan refused to fight and compromise the siblings’ position. 15 44

Personality

Qingshan begins as reserved and lacking in agency, shaped by life as a servant disciple, but grows into a cautious and determined cultivator. He is capable of anger and decisive vengeance, yet he can suppress it when retaliation would be strategically harmful. 11 13 44

He strongly values independence. Rather than rely on Lu Qingfeng’s resources, he repeatedly undertakes Sunset Glow Sect missions to earn cultivation materials and step out of his elder brother’s shadow. 99 112

His ambition also has a practical side: as a founding patriarch, he devoted himself to making the Azure Origin Sword Sect the leading sect of Shangyang Kingdom. This commitment became excessive enough to slow his cultivation, forcing him to delegate its affairs before traveling onward. 75 76

Appearance

Qingshan was described as slender before entering the Return-to-Truth Sect, though noticeably sturdier after five months there. He later appeared in the white uniform of a Sunset Glow Sect disciple and eventually traveled disguised as a black-robed cultivator in a bamboo hat. 11 106 383

Abilities & Skills

Luofu Sword Canon

Qingshan cultivates the Luofu Sword Canon, a method far superior to the Sunset Glow Sect’s inheritance.

  • Generates Luofu Sword Qi, which can be summoned and dismissed freely and surpasses ordinary Intermediate Arts. 111
  • Its abundant True Qi supply allowed him to conserve his stronger Arts during the Sunset Glow Sect competition. 111
  • The canon’s Sword Qi alone was stronger than the sect’s ordinary Intermediate Arts. 105

Sword Arts

Qingshan is a capable sword cultivator whose techniques continued to develop beyond his realm.

  • Combined Luofu Sword Qi with an enhanced Wind-Control Technique to defeat Zhou Chu decisively. 111
  • Later inherited Muye Sword Venerable’s legacy at Cloud Terrace Mountain, including the Ancient-Breaking Ultimate Sword. 504 584
  • His sword-path inheritance established his right to practice the Floating Mountain Sect’s secret ultimate sword arts. 584

Grand Arcane Insight

Qingshan used Grand Arcane Insight to escape the Upper Origin Palace cultivators’ Eight-Landscapes Talisman Method.

  • Saw through the illusionary talisman realms and identified their central talismans. 262
  • Destroyed the formation’s core without killing the four cultivators, who had previously aided his escape from Junk Star. 262

Sect Leadership

As one of the Three Azure Patriarchs, Qingshan managed the Azure Origin Sword Sect after its founding.

  • Organized its businesses, Patriarch Statue rituals, and daily affairs before departing Shangyang Kingdom. 75 76
  • His dedication helped establish the sect but came at the cost of neglecting his own cultivation. 76

Equipment & Support

  • Seven Fiends Banner — refined by Lu Qingfeng as protection for Qingshan’s Hundred Herb Garden expedition; Qingshan refined four of its restrictions within a month. 112 117
  • Dust-Obscuring Banner — used with Lu Qingyu to return to the Profound Origin Water Realm; its use consumed ten Spirit Stones. 262
  • Hidden Heavenly General protectionLu Qingfeng assigned three peak Golden Core-stage Heavenly Generals to secretly guard Qingshan during his travels. 334

Relationships

  • Lu Qingfeng — elder brother, mentor, and principal protector. Qingfeng arranged his escape, supplied his cultivation, supported his independence, and advised his later travels. 11 76 112 306
  • Lu Qingyu — younger sister and close traveling companion. She challenged his attachment to the Azure Origin Sword Sect and later joined him in journeying between realms. 76 262
  • Zhang Ye, Qian Yunhai, and Feng Bai — close Sunset Glow Sect friends with whom Qingshan completed sect missions. 106
  • Zhou Yuan — Sunset Glow Sect master who recognized Qingshan’s value to the sect after his tournament victory. 111 112
  • Muye Sword Venerable — legacy master whose inheritance Qingshan obtained at Cloud Terrace Mountain. 504 584
  • Zhang Chong — former Return-to-Truth Sect servant steward whose abuse of Qingshan became a lasting source of resentment. 15 44
