Flint just hadn't expected Harry to want to teach this lot of Slytherins a lesson too.
Arrogant, conceited, and smug...
Pah, what made you think you were worthy?
You were a disgrace to the Slytherins of a century ago!
With quick eyes and quicker hands, Harry flicked the spell aside with his wand and immediately returned a Disarming Charm at Flint.
It was a Profound Skill. It looked as though he had simply deflected the spell with his wand, but it was actually a Shield Charm.
"Silent Spell?" The onlookers were dumbstruck.
No one had expected Harry to know a technique that only adult wizards could use.
"What are you standing around for?" Flint roared. Even without his wand, he still had his prized physical strength.
Potter was only a tiny first-year. As long as he got close, everything would be fine!
Yet after taking only two steps, he discovered that his body was floating helplessly into the air.
"Expelliarmus!"
Ron's wand also flashed, successfully disarming the older student behind Flint who had been aiming his wand at Harry.
The wand spun through the air and landed in Ron's hand, while Seamus and Neville behind him both shouted, "Cool!"
"Blimey, Ron, how did you do that?" Neville asked in a low but hurried voice.
It was obvious that he wanted to be like Ron too.
"Harry taught me," Ron said smugly.
"Ronald!" Hermione snarled. "Could you please focus on the people in front of us? For God's sake, we're still fighting!"
Only then did Ron snap back to his senses and hurriedly dodge a vicious curse fired by an older student.
He was only a first-year and had never learned the Shield Charm.
He could hardly be blamed too much for that. In fact, in the current British wizarding world, many adult wizards—even Aurors—could not cast a complete Shield Charm.
It was only slightly less ridiculous than an American police officer responding to a call without a gun.
But Neville behind him was unlucky. Hit by the spell, his body stiffened, and he fell straight onto the floor.
"Oh, poor Neville." Still shaken, Ron fired a spell back at that student and disarmed him, catching the other wand in his hand.
Though the opponents were all fifth-years, their magical ability was truly hard to put into words.
The trio had never practiced coordinating in combat, but even so, with Harry's relatively extensive combat experience, dealing with these sixth-years was more than easy.
Within only a few minutes, every one of those sixth-years had been defeated.
Harry's feelings were complicated. He was not happy with the outcome.
What the hell had Hogwarts become?
Sixth-years who could not even cast a Shield Charm, who could not even beat young wizards with only a month of training...
Were fifth-years nowadays all this useless?
Harry remembered that by his fifth year, he had already been able to fight three members of The Ashwinder Party alone with ease.
He was leagues above these sixth-years.
"Finite!" Harry pointed his wand at Neville and lifted the spell from him.
Neville finally climbed up from the floor, rubbing the back of his head where he had hit it painfully and muttering complaints about Ron not warning him.
"Buddy, it happened way too suddenly," Ron said apologetically. "I didn't expect that spell to hit you either."
"Potter! Put us down!" Flint's voice rang out.
"I'm terribly sorry," Harry said leisurely. "I didn't expect you Slytherins to be so weak."
Seven Slytherin sixth-years had stepped forward for Pansy. Two were drifting helplessly in the air, while five lay stiffly on the ground.
"Apologize to Hermione," Harry said.
"I'll never apologize to that stinking little Mudblood!" Flint hung in the air, but his mouth remained stubborn.
Harry's expression turned cold.
With a flick of Harry's wand, Flint crashed to the ground with a bang.
"I said, apologize!"
Harry flicked his wand again, and Flint discovered in horror that his body was kneeling of its own accord.
"The apple does not fall far from the tree." Harry shrugged. "Your behavior makes it clear just how rotten your family is."
"You dare insult the Flint family! You'll pay for this!" Flint gritted out.
"Can't take it?" Harry bent down, his tone pitying. "When you were insulting others, why didn't you think about the price? If you ask me, only a garbage wizarding family could raise a garbage wizard like you..."
"Stop!"
A clear voice rang out from the edge of the crowd, cutting off Harry's next words.
The crowd parted, and Slytherin Prefect Gemma Farley walked in with books in her arms.
"What happened?" Prefect Farley swept a stern gaze around the group.
"Miss Farley, it happened like this..."
At once, a Slytherin student stepped forward and began recounting the incident to her, embellishing it as he went.
"So, Flint, a Slytherin student, and a Slytherin student!" Prefect Farley's voice brimmed with anger. "You sixth-years were defeated by three first-year Gryffindor new students?"
"Look at yourselves! Flint! Your family will be shamed because of you!" she reprimanded again.
"Miss Farley, Potter insulted my family..."
Before Flint could finish, Prefect Farley cut him off.
"Shut up!" Prefect Farley lifted her chin. "You brought it upon yourself! Who do you think you are, daring to use that word? Slytherin will lose ten points because of your foul mouth!"
"And you, Miss Parkinson, will lose ten points as well!" she added.
Prefects could deduct House points from other students as punishment for breaking rules.
Likewise, they could assign students detention.
All the Slytherin students were stunned. They had never expected their own Prefect to deduct Slytherin's House points.
Was your elbow really turning outward?
But Gemma had her own troubles. If it had merely been a conflict between younger students, it would have been one thing. But these were sixth-years bullying first-years. If a professor got involved, losing twenty points would not be enough to settle it.
Moreover, Marcus Flint and Pansy Parkinson had openly called Gryffindor students Mudbloods. That was an especially vile term.
"You are a fair Prefect." Harry gave Prefect Farley an elegant Gentleman's Bow. "If there is nothing else, we will be going back now."
"Please wait, Mr. Potter."
Prefect Farley called Harry back.
Harry raised an eyebrow. "May I ask if there is anything else?"
Prefect Farley took a step forward, her long black hair drifting lightly in the breeze.
"I challenge you to a Wizard's Duel," she said.
