Background
Harry grew up under the care of the Dursleys after Voldemort murdered James and Lily Potter. On receiving his Hogwarts letter in 1991, he remembered that the same event had sent him to Hogwarts more than a century earlier, where he spent six years before returning to his original time 1 3.
During his first Hogwarts life, Harry fought alongside friends including Gareth Weasley, Poppy Sweeting, Amit Sakaha, Ominis Gaunt, Sebastian Saru, Cassandra Malfoy, and Verathea “Vivi” Grindelwald. Their group destroyed the Ashwinder Party and suppressed the Goblin Rebellion, turning Harry into a historical Savior whose name was feared by goblins 29 83 167.
Back in 1991, Harry concealed his time-travel history while attending Hogwarts again as an eleven-year-old. He was sorted into Gryffindor for a second time and accepted Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as new friends after they faced a troll together 19 38. He later confirmed his century-old identity to Ron and Hermione while pursuing Voldemort’s Horcruxes 209.
Appearance
Harry is a slight, dark-haired wizard with green eyes, glasses, and a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. He strongly resembles his father, James Potter, except for Lily Potter’s eyes 7 187.
- Messy dark hair and a distinctive lightning-bolt scar.
- Green eyes inherited from Lily Potter.
- Usually wears glasses, which he can clean or dry with wandless magic 117 181.
- His appearance and scar make him immediately recognizable throughout the wizarding world 18 23.
Personality
Harry is polite and composed even when confronting hostile adults, bullies, or Dark Wizards. He prefers to protect others, take responsibility for dangerous situations, and give his friends opportunities to grow instead of sheltering them completely 1 38 88.
His long experience in a harsher era makes him pragmatic about combat. He considers powerful magic necessary against Dark Wizards and is willing to use Unforgivable Curses, manipulation, and intimidation when he believes they are required 46 102 449. Despite this ruthlessness, he does not hold onto hatred easily and repeatedly emphasizes having people to protect and reasons to live 382 547.
Harry is modest about his own exceptional ability, often calling himself average while encouraging classmates to improve. He is also deeply attached to Hogwarts, considering it the closest thing he has to a home 23 51.

- Learns Legilimency from Dumbledore and later trains Occlumency under Cassandra 46 228.
- Rapidly reduces what Cassandra can see when she enters his mind, from full memories to brief fragments 228.
- Uses Ancient Magic-enhanced Legilimency on Horcruxes to examine Tom Riddle’s past and destroy soul fragments 376 379.
- Defeats Voldemort and Merope during mental confrontations within his own mindscape 295 382.
Parseltongue and Magical Creatures
Harry speaks Parseltongue and can command or negotiate with serpentine magical creatures.
- Located the Chamber of Secrets by using Parseltongue 136.
- Convinced the Basilisk Alfonso to obey him by exploiting his knowledge of the Gaunt family and Voldemort’s lineage 136.
- Uses Alfonso in dangerous operations, including having the Basilisk drink the potion protecting the false locket 214.
- Keeps Alfonso and a Sphinx within his magically expanded wallet 169.
Philosopher’s Stone Integration
After absorbing the Philosopher’s Stone’s power, Harry becomes closely linked to it and gains immense magical reserves.
- His magic becomes powerful enough to reinforce Gubraithian Fire against Voldemort 92.
- Can replenish Vivi’s magical power and Cassandra’s life force through prolonged contact 178.
- Possesses unusually abundant mental power for Occlumency practice 234.
- Must recalibrate his magical output after a vastly overpowered Disarming Charm damages a Ministry office wall 481.
