"Do whatever you want," Cassandra said disdainfully.

After breakfast, Harry carried the dishes and cutlery to the sink, rinsed them clean, and put them back on the rack.

Cassandra had a fifth year Defense Against the Dark Arts Class that morning. She packed up her lesson plans and textbooks, put on her robe, and prepared to leave.

Harry was sitting by the windowsill, reading the novel he had taken from her bookshelf. When he saw that she was about to go, he set down the book and stood up.

"Should I head back to the Common Room first? Or walk you there?" Harry asked.

"You don't need to follow me." Cassandra stood at the door, straightening the collar of her robe. "It's not like I don't know the way."

"I know you know the way." Harry walked up to her. "I'm just going that way too. I can take this route."

"Do whatever you want."

Cassandra pulled open the door and walked out. Harry followed behind her as they made their way down the spiral staircase.

The tower stairs were narrow and steep. The person in front walked steadily, while the one behind followed at an unhurried pace, like a quiet shadow.

At the bottom of the stairs, Cassandra turned right toward the classrooms. Harry should have turned left toward Gryffindor Tower, but he did not.

After taking a few steps, Cassandra sensed that he was still following her. She stopped and glanced back at him.

"You went the wrong way," she reminded him.

"No, I didn't," Harry said. "I'm going to sit in on your class."

"You're in seventh year, not fifth year," Cassandra said through gritted teeth.

"Auditing doesn't have an age limit." Harry looked unconcerned.
