"Where to?" Harry asked curiously.
"The path behind the castle. Follow the Black Lake for a while, then go into the woods." Cassandra looked at the wall as she spoke. "I've walked there alone a few times before. The air is quite nice."
"Okay, I'll go with you." Harry smiled.
That night, before going to sleep, Cassandra did not immediately turn her back after lying down.
She lay flat on her back, looking at the ceiling. Harry lay beside her, also looking at the ceiling. The two of them simply lay there side by side.
"Tell me—" Cassandra began. "If Pabbie hadn't come tonight, would you have brought up going for a walk tomorrow yourself?"
"I might have waited until tomorrow morning to say it." Harry chuckled.
"Why the morning?" Cassandra asked curiously.
"Because if I said it at night, I'd keep thinking about it and might not be able to sleep." Harry answered honestly.
Cassandra turned her head and glanced at him.
"Then are you asleep now?"
"Not yet," Harry admitted.
"Then stop talking and go to sleep already," Cassandra said.
She turned to face the wall, in the same position she had used the previous few days.
Next morning, after breakfast, Cassandra put on a thicker robe and carried a small cloth bag containing two lemon tarts Pabbie had brought yesterday and a small flask of water.
"You brought water?" Harry asked curiously.
"Enough for two people." She tightened the drawstring on the bag. "Let's go. The sun hasn't fully risen yet, so there are fewer people on the path. It's a good time for a walk."
Beyond the castle's back door was a narrow path stretching along the edge of the Black Lake. Its surface was covered in uneven gravel, with low shrubs and wild heather on
