Lucy scrunched her pretty nose, took a sip of coffee, and continued, "Those are definitely off-limits. They're LLNL Laboratory's most closely guarded secrets. Without A-class clearance or above, you can't enter that area."

Lu Ze hurriedly explained, "Not that. I'm more curious about advanced weapons and top-tier research equipment."

NIF stood for the National Ignition Facility.

Its greatest—and only—purpose was to use laser confinement to ignite nuclear fusion. It was currently Eagle Sauce's most highly prioritized experimental Controlled Nuclear Fusion project.

Among the world's notable fusion ignition facilities were ITER, the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, and Great Xia's magnetic-confinement project, the EAST Tokamak.

Together with Eagle Sauce's NIF laser ignition project, they represented the primary current research paths toward achieving Controlled Nuclear Fusion ignition.

Lu Ze understood just how significant Controlled Nuclear Fusion was. For a project capable of changing a nation's destiny, he wasn't reckless enough to think about seeing something of that level the moment he arrived at LLNL Laboratory.

"Advanced weapons and technology? What's so difficult about that?"

Seeing the faint confusion and incomprehension in Lucy's eyes,

"Aren't those advanced technologies supposed to be hard to access?" Lu Ze frowned. "Especially for an intern graduate student like me."

Lucy found that rather unbelievable. "Unless those advanced weapons haven't officially entered mass production and been finalized, they aren't difficult to access even if they haven't entered service yet, are they?"

He merely wanted to look at some weapons or advanced technological equipment.

That might be difficult for ordinary people, who could only wait for opportunities like public exhibitions.

But for a place like LLNL Laboratory, which was primarily responsible for developing defense technology, even weapons that had not officially entered service were not much of an issue.

"Not difficult to access?" Lu Ze was somewhat bewildered.

"The Defense Department often sends all kinds of equipment over for the laboratory to modify and upgrade," Lucy explained. "Unless it's a top-secret project, even peripheral employees like you can access it."

"So that's how it is. I always thought it would be difficult." Lu Ze nodded in sudden realization.

He had fallen into a mental trap earlier, thinking that top weapons such as the F-22, F-35, and C-5 Galaxy transport aircraft, as well as the EUV lithography machine, were so important to Eagle Sauce that a peripheral employee like him would find them difficult to access.

But in reality, just because those weapons were important did not mean people could not approach or view them.

Ordinary people might only get to admire them at exhibitions, but LLNL Laboratory was a defense technology partner. As long as he did not take them apart for research, wasn't it easy enough just to touch and look at them?

Lucy smiled. "It's not difficult. Not difficult at all. Just tell me what weapons you want to see, and I'll take you there."

"Can you really do that?"

A smile appeared at the corner of Lucy's lips. "It's just a simple matter. If you stay here another year or two, you'll be able to do it too."

An intern graduate student like Lu Ze might not have the connections to gain access, but for her, it was extremely simple.

After all, it wasn't as if those things would be stolen just because someone looked at and touched them.

Lucy ordered an extra cup of coffee and handed it to Lu Ze with a smile. "Just like you said before, it's merely a small favor."

Lu Ze took it and had a sip. "Pfft, it's so bitter!" Why did this coffee taste like nothing but bitterness?

"See you at the lab, Lu."

A sly glint appeared at the corner of Lucy's lips. This time, she had ordered a medium with no sugar.

She did not actually like adding sugar or milk to her coffee. She wasn't a child.

He watched Lucy's alluring figure slowly depart beneath the sunlight.

Only then did Lu Ze finally come back to his senses. "I really didn't expect it to be this easy?"

He now understood just how great a surprise the stunning girl Lucy, whom he had only just met, could bring him.

Although even peripheral employees were not supposed to have much difficulty accessing top technology, that was only the ideal scenario.

Lu Ze was an international student from Great Xia. If he rashly asked to view top technologies—an EUV lithography machine, supercomputers, or all kinds of advanced weapons—it would only make Eagle Sauce more wary of him.

Inside a completely isolated and shielded room at the Great Xia Academy of Sciences, a crisp notification tone suddenly rang out.

"A new email has arrived?"
