The captain's office was on the third floor.
Rayne followed Pollock into a spacious room. The decor was very plain. Apart from several sets of rough wooden tables and chairs, the room was filled mostly with several rows of large bookshelves tucked against the corners of the walls. They were packed with books, making the entire office look like a small library.
A man whose age was impossible to tell sat behind a large desk.
He had a resolute face and a head of short silver hair. He wore white heavy armor, and even sitting down, it was obvious that he was extremely strong. The armor alone weighed at least three hundred pounds.
However, the man's gaze was deep, and he possessed a refined air. Judging by his appearance alone, he looked more like a scholar. He held a book in his hands, while several stacks of books lay piled on the desk, as if he were conducting academic research.
On the way here, Rayne had heard Pollock explain that the captain of the Demon Extermination Squad was an Advanced Tier Steel Knight named Davenrach.
Steel Knight was an advanced profession of Iron Guard. It granted an iron will and body, along with astonishing defensive power.
Besides Davenrach, there were several other people in the office. They were all Transcendents and seemed to be members of the Demon Extermination Squad as well.
Several people looked toward the door, their gazes landing on the two who had entered.
When Davenrach saw Rayne's build, his eyes lit up, and a warm smile appeared on his face. "Pollock, this young man is Rayne, right?"
"Yes, Captain." Pollock replied.
He introduced everyone in the office to Rayne. "Rayne, this is our captain, Sir Davenrach." He then pointed to a handsome young man beside Davenrach.
