War's Ominous Signs

Duke Silverstar's projection was crystal clear. He noticed Rayne's gaze but showed no reaction, and not a single expression changed on his face.

The other Soul Saint Wizards were the same, clearly having already discussed this.

"What's going on?"

Rayne was utterly confused and unable to make a judgment.

"Banbei City!"

"How dare the Gupta Kingdom shelter Loki's Cultists!" More than a hundred councilors began discussing it among themselves, and most of them were not surprised.

The situation in the Sabkhtainai subcontinent was chaotic. Aside from the three human-dominated kingdoms, there were several small principalities, as well as hundreds of city-states and tribes. Ratfolk, Snakefolk, Pigs, Goblins, and countless other races fought with humans over territory and resources, and Strife continued year-round.

War and murder were the main themes here, and the entire subcontinent was a breeding ground for evil god cultists.

Most of Loki's Cultists were hiding on the subcontinent. They controlled many cities and even openly preached the Deceiver's doctrines in some places.

Lockrion probably had not fled to Banbei City.

Rather, Banbei City might be the headquarters of the "Shadow Blade," where a large number of Loki's Cultists had gathered, and it had now been exposed.

The revenge operation was definitely not limited to killing Lockrion. They also had to uproot the "Shadow Blade," or at the very least destroy its stronghold in Banbei City, along with Loki's underground temple.

Otherwise, Duke Silverstar would not have revealed the enemy's presence in Banbei City now.

Even if the Shadow Blade and Lockrion knew that the Empire was coming for revenge, they had nowhere to flee. Their underground forces, which had operated in Banbei City for years, could not relocate in such a short time.

But would the Gupta Kingdom agree?
