Rayne piloted the Star Destroyer Gotham, using the Astral Plane as a stepping stone. After two teleportations, he returned to the Material Plane and arrived on the New Continent.
Ahead lay a mountain range that stretched beyond sight, running from northeast to southwest. Its peaks were not particularly high, most rising only a few hundred meters above sea level, while numerous low hills combined with them to form a continuous range over a hundred miles wide. It stood on the plains like a massive natural barrier.
This was the Balechia Mountains on the eastern coast of the New Continent.
Rayne determined their location. They were roughly two hundred and thirty miles west of Gotham City, within the area illuminated by the Statue of the Goddess of Magic.
The Star Destroyer possessed the teleportation authority of Magic Torchlight, allowing it to cross the Spatial Lock.
After flying west for dozens of miles, Rayne saw that all the land along the way had been cultivated into fertile farmland. Although it was somewhat far from Gotham City, after several years of development, several villages and towns had been established, along with broad roads wide enough for cars and carriages to travel side by side.
It was currently the spring planting season. Farmers drove agricultural machinery through the fields, creating a scene of flourishing prosperity.
Who could have imagined that just six or seven years ago, countless undead had still wandered these lands?
Soon, a military camp built at the foot of the Balechia Mountains appeared in view. It was the Hamilton Training Base, completed the previous year and one of the three military camps owned by the Duke's Guard.
The military camp occupied an enormous area. Seen from above, the most conspicuous feature was the huge parade ground in the center. Its
