Although there were still several Legendary Demonfolk in the tribe and five or six hundred Abyssal Knights alive, the tribe's fighting spirit completely collapsed under the Duke's Guard's powerful long-range firepower, and more than ten thousand Demonfolk fled for their lives toward the rear of the tribe.
The Duke's Guard flattened the tribe in half an hour, then bypassed the burning ruins and continued pursuing the fleeing enemies.
The battle ended a little over an hour later.
Of the more than twenty thousand Demonfolk, fewer than one-tenth escaped, while the Duke's Guard suffered almost no casualties. During the battle, more than a dozen Purgatory Mages teleported into their formation to launch surprise attacks, desperately throwing out area spells and even self-destructing in an attempt to take everyone down with them.
The Duke's Guard had prepared for this during training. Their formation was already relatively dispersed, leaving the Purgatory Mages no opportunity to inflict heavy casualties.
Still, dozens of soldiers were struck by spells, though none of them were fatal.
