As low-tier scavengers in the Ancient Tree Forest's food chain, the slender Jagras were everywhere.

Given their size and overall combat power, they could only prey on small environmental creatures, decaying carcasses, and broken dragon eggs. Their flesh was so awful that other wyverns generally did not even consider them prey.

Even Tyrannosaurus Rex units as gluttonous as Crimson usually would not choose to eat Jagras unless necessary. But apparently, some flying wyvern individual that made up for Monster Hunter World's lack of a fighter-jet niche was even less picky than a Tyrannosaurus Rex, able to stomach even the shit-tier meat of Jagras...

Because of this ecological niche, Jagras usually appeared in groups. They only tried to scavenge together, bully weaker creatures, or do something under the leadership of a Great Jagras. And to the low-intelligence Jagras, small lifeforms like humans were also among their hunting targets.

However, even when hunting in groups, a Jagras pack usually numbered no more than five, and they only attacked when their target was alone. It was not that they valued their lives so much; their Underlying Code had simply been written that way, and their intelligence was not enough to break past those limitations.

Yet now, these Jagras, as though afflicted with Red Eye Disease, were appearing in groups of double digits. They had actually dared to surround this hunter party that looked dangerous at a glance, steadily tightening the encirclement in an attempt to restrict Cheng Tian's group's movements.
