Flender and the other teachers all agreed that this was an excellent idea. The teachers would lead the team, and the students would compete. That way, the students could hone their combat abilities, while the teachers could collect a little protection money on the side.
The teachers at their academy truly lived difficult lives. At other academies, Soul Emperors and Soul Sages were dean- or vice dean-level figures, earning hundreds of thousands of Gold Soul Coins with ease every year.
Tuition fees were actually only a small portion of it. The main source of income for teachers and deans was gifts from others. In academies located in major cities, there were many wealthy students. To ensure their children received a better education, those parents were often exceedingly generous. It was impossible not to accept.
But here at Shrek Academy, there were barely any people in total, and the students were poorer than the last. Although each student paid one hundred Gold Soul Coins in tuition, that was nowhere near enough to cover the salaries of their Soul Emperor-level teachers.
They had willingly accepted lower wages just to remain at this academy.
Why?
Was it not because of their ideals? Shrek Academy was Monster Academy. The greatest wish of these teachers was to train a group of Little Monsters and fulfill their dreams.
Ideally, they would gather enough students to form a team and send them to the All Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament. Only then could these teachers and Shrek Academy make a name for themselves.
If Shrek Academy continued as it had before, recruiting only a handful of students each year, they might not be able to hold on much longer. These teachers needed to eat. They had families. Their children also needed vast resources for cultivation.
