Although the Blood God Scripture was quite good, Minos shook his head. He had actually read Legend of Sword and Fairy, and he knew that once this thing was cultivated to the end, one would completely transform into a Blood God Seed and cease to be human.
This was not some Vampire Fruit that still left one with a human form. The first step of the Blood God Scripture was to peel off one's own skin. In the end, the so-called five viscera and six bowels would truly turn into pure blood essence, and the entire person would become a fusion of blood essence and soul. A human body would instead be no more than a layer of clothing.
Minos wanted to become stronger, but he did not want to turn into such a bizarre Blood God Seed. He continued reading.
Oni Tribe Bloodline (Progenitor Version): Originated from the world of Demon Slayer.
Possesses a nearly truly immortal body. Aside from sunlight, it is almost impossible to kill. Can awaken the unique ability of a Blood Demon Art.
"Demon Slayer? The abilities are indeed powerful, and purely physical abilities do fit the Pirate World very well... but the drawbacks are simply too great."
Killed by sunlight and forced to eat human flesh—Minos would have to be insane to choose an Oni Tribe bloodline with those two flaws.
River of Death (The Bird of Hermes Is My Name, Eating My Wings to Tame Myself): Originated from the world of the Knights of the Royal Order.
The ultimate technique of Alucard, the Vampire King. It absorbed the lives and souls of others into one's blood. Every life could take one death in the user's place, and through this, Alucard possessed nearly limitless vitality.
However, the souls absorbed into the body would also place a certain burden on the host, very likely causing a series of consequences such as split personality and mental confusion.
"This..." Minos blinked. "What a ridiculous skill. So if I massacred several hundred ordinary people, I'd have several hundred lives?"
His gaze shifted continuously between the glowing orbs of the Holy Grail and the River of Death. In terms of combat ability, the River of Death far surpassed the Holy Grail.
For one thing, after obtaining the River of Death, Minos would dare to challenge one of the Four Emperors head-on as long as he absorbed a few thousand ordinary people.
A few thousand lives! Even if he could not defeat a Four Emperor, it would be extraordinarily difficult for one to kill Minos.
But the note afterward worried Minos greatly as well. Could a person really be fine after absorbing a huge pile of souls into a single body? At any rate, Minos did not think so.
Split personality and mental disorder would be the better outcomes. It was not impossible for someone else to take over his body entirely. This was only a skill; it was not turning Minos completely into the Vampire King. The side effects would probably be even worse for him.
After thinking it over and over, Minos still did not dare use such an outrageous skill as the River of Death directly. That Vampire King could absorb nearly three million lives and still retain his own personality because of his vampire bloodline. If Minos used the River of Death directly, who knew whether he would turn into a lunatic with a split personality?
"Then I can only choose the Holy Grail... but it won't do much to improve my current combat strength, and the World Consciousness's backlash will probably arrive soon..."
"Forget it. Even with a cheat, it's nearly impossible to reach the heavens in one step without any future consequences! I'll choose the Holy Grail."
Without another word, Minos chose the Holy Grail. Although, as a yokai, he was naturally long-lived and almost incapable of falling ill, he could at least use the Holy Grail as a senzu bean.
A dazzling golden radiance fell into Minos's hand like a meteor, transforming into the mark of a golden cup.
When Minos left the space and opened his eyes, he discovered that the same cup mark had appeared on his physical body, on his palm.
He narrowed his eyes and shifted his thoughts slightly. The mark immediately vanished, and a silver goblet appeared in his hand.
He touched the silver goblet. It was made of ordinary silver, and the silver was not even particularly pure. Perhaps because it was too old, the entire goblet was covered with a faint layer of black tarnish.
Though it looked unremarkable, Minos felt refreshed and at peace when he touched the Holy Grail, as though a faintly sacred aura flowed across the entire goblet.
More than that, Minos could sense a faint connection between himself and the goblet. He placed it on the ground and walked several steps away. With a thought, the golden cup mark appeared on his hand again, while the Holy Grail on the ground vanished without a trace.
"Not bad. This way, I won't have to worry about anyone stealing the Holy Grail." Minos was quite pleased. Now he could use the Holy Grail a little more freely. Otherwise, with his current strength, he really would not dare take the goblet out and use it directly for fear that someone might snatch it away.
Minos used his Observation Haki to sense his surroundings slightly. At least for the time being, he did not feel any imminent catastrophe, so the World Consciousness's backlash would likely give him a little more time. He casually found a tavern in town and bought a bottle of wine.
Evening soon arrived. Sleepy Town was only an ordinary small town. After wandering around twice and finishing their resupply, there was nothing else to do, so the group quickly returned.
The moment they returned, they saw Minos beneath the night sky, sitting on the ship's rail at the edge of the deck with a small silver goblet in his hand. Though the goblet looked extremely plain, it still drew everyone's attention at first sight.
The goblet was plain, but the wine inside gave off waves of intoxicatingly sweet fragrance. Under the moonlight, it faintly reflected a magnificent ruby-like glow, as dazzling as blood.
The wine was something Minos had casually bought from a small roadside shop. It was not poor quality, but it certainly had nothing to do with luxury. Yet after that ordinary wine was poured into the silver goblet, it instantly transformed into its present appearance.
Turning his head, Minos glanced at the others before his gaze finally settled on Kyros. He held out the silver goblet in his hand. "Have a drink."
The words came out of nowhere. But the fragrance of the wine in the goblet was simply too intoxicating. Just smelling it made the group feel as though they were floating in the clouds, their minds losing the ability to think. Kyros, usually stern by nature and someone who would never commit such an impolite act, accepted the goblet as though sleepwalking and drained its fine wine in a single gulp.
A warm aura spread through Kyros's body, yet he shuddered, feeling as though a chill had been poured straight into his heart. In an instant, all the sorrow, anger, and other emotions in his heart vanished completely, leaving behind only pure joy and warmth.
At the same time, he felt as if a thousand-pound burden had been lifted from his entire body, making him incomparably light. A moment later, red light extended from where his leg had been severed, and a new leg instantly grew from his body.
The remaining people all stared wide-eyed! What kind of panacea was this? Kyros's leg had been cut off directly at the thigh, yet it had now regenerated completely. Calling it a miracle would not be an exaggeration, would it?
