Background / History

Reincarnation and the Charlotte Pirates

Minos died in a building fire before awakening in the Pirate World in the body of a sixteen-year-old Three-Eyed Tribe member. Slave traders had captured both him and Talon before the Charlotte Pirates intercepted their ship and took them in. Charlotte Linlin favored Minos because she expected his race to help her pursue the title of Pirate King. 1

He accepted the Charlotte Pirates pragmatically, viewing his rare bloodline as protection rather than affection. Alongside Talon, he sought placement under Katakuri, whose Observation Haki and comparatively restrained treatment of subordinates made him the preferable commander. 2

Minos soon used the Golden Scales to exchange his Three-Eyed Tribe bloodline for the Evil Eye. The painful transaction made him a Yokai and provided the foundation for his later combat style. Katakuri subsequently recognized his talent, took him into his forces, and subjected him to serious combat training. 3 5 7

Golden Lion and Wano

Golden Lion Shiki captured Minos and civilians from Sleepy Town after forcing their ship onto a sky island. Minos revealed Evil Eye King Mode against Shiki, then joined the Golden Lion Pirates to secure the release of his former crew; Baby5 alone chose to remain with him. 34 35

During roughly a week under Shiki, Minos received brutal swordsmanship instruction and used the Golden Scales to acquire Thunder Breathing's Thunderclap and Flash. He later traveled through Wano, gained access to the Kōzuki clan's sword collection and library, and refined his swordsmanship through Divine Blade Slash and Human Immortal Martial Path training. 38 39 74 76 122

After surviving Kaido's attack and leaving a scar on him, Minos escaped Golden Lion's influence and returned briefly to Whole Cake Island. He ultimately left the Charlotte Pirates, choosing to pursue Nico Robin and build his own power base. 95 100 108

West Blue and Independent Expansion

Disguised as Iori Yagami, Minos infiltrated the West Blue Marines as a bounty hunter and later a Marine Colonel. Through hypnosis, induced amnesia, and intimidation, he took control of most West Blue Marine branches and Mafia organizations, turning the sea into his intelligence and resource network. 113 114 117

Nico Robin eventually joined him and was entrusted with managing West Blue. Minos trained relentlessly while developing plans to control Marine branches across the Four Seas and gathering Poneglyph information. 121 133 135

Wano's Guardian King

Minos fought Marine Admirals, survived repeated battles with Kizaru, and killed Akainu in a mutual-destruction clash that he recovered from. Kōzuki Hiyori later proposed a political marriage alliance and named him Wano Country's Guardian King. 160 161 232 235 256

He used Gourmet Cells to transform Wano into a prosperous territory, while his strength and military deterrence protected the country from external powers. 235 248

Orochi and the World Government

After completing his transformation into Orochi, Minos defeated the World Government's forces in Dressrosa, killed Gecko Moria, defeated Dracule Mihawk in one move, and incapacitated the Donquixote Family. 265
