Gifted Talent and the Library

"Waaah!"

Talon cried out as he was sent flying and slammed into the ground. A moment later, Minos fell from the sky and crashed into his stomach, nearly making the Oni Clan member puke up acid.

"Katakuri, you're amazing!" Brulee clapped happily and cheered.

There was naturally no suspense in this fight. Katakuri had basically guided the two of them into attacking, then, once he had seen enough, slapped them both flat.

"Very good. I've already seen what you're made of." Katakuri crossed his arms and spoke coolly. "Your talents aren't bad."

Talon's talent was fairly ordinary among the Oni Clan. Though he far surpassed ordinary people, he still did not stand out in Katakuri's eyes.

From Katakuri's observations, unless Talon encountered some stroke of luck like obtaining a Devil Fruit, then no matter how hard this Oni Clan member trained in the future, at best he would become a senior officer in a Yonko Crew or reach the level of an ordinary Vice Admiral. He could be considered a backbone, but never a true pillar.

Minos, however, surprised him quite a bit. In terms of physical fitness alone, Minos might have been somewhat inferior to Talon, but Katakuri could already tell that Minos had never received any training. Compared to Talon, an Oni Clan member who had undergone combat and training since childhood, Minos's physical potential was likely even greater.

Combined with reflexes far beyond Talon's and the Three-Eyed Tribe's unique bloodline abilities, Minos might one day reach the combat level of a Sweet Commander or a Beasts Tobiroppo.

Special abilities, and the potential to become a future pillar as well? Katakuri's expression did not seem to change, but his gaze softened slightly.

"That hurt." Minos covered his lower abdomen as he stood up. However, he soon felt much of the pain fade away. His body was recovering at a speed that even surprised him.

Yokai were naturally known for their tenacious vitality. Not to mention the Yokai in the original story with astonishing regenerative powers, even Hiei had recovered after being cut in half at the waist. The Yokai who had transplanted the Evil Eye into him had his entire head sliced off from the mouth upward, yet still recovered.

Although the Demon Realm's medical standards accounted for most of that, Yokai vitality and regenerative ability were indeed far beyond human levels.

Even in the pirate world, such regeneration would be considered shocking.

After testing the foundations of the two of them, Katakuri did not continue sparring with them, so he had yet to notice Minos's extraordinary recovery ability.

"Starting tomorrow, you'll train with my subordinates. Also, our Pirate Crew's library has some notes on cultivation. You can take a look when you have time. I'll have Mondol open the library to you."

"You can take any books you like. Mondol has the ability to duplicate books."

"Once you've built a solid foundation, I'll teach you how to train Haki!"

Charlotte Mondol, the user of the Book-Book Fruit, was also the Charlotte Family's archivist and oversaw most of its confidential documents and books.

Of course, Katakuri was only saying it casually. Although the Charlotte Family had collected quite a few cultivation methods, very few people were actually willing to read them.

In the pirate world, the body mattered far more than the brain in cultivation. Someone like Luffy could be given a book for a hundred years and still not learn a damn thing from it. But if he fought someone in actual combat, he might be able to use those moves after just two or three exchanges.

Most pirates in the entire pirate world, even if they lacked Luffy's talent, were still the type whose bodies learned faster than their brains.

Even Katakuri himself could be considered the scheming type, yet he had only visited that library a few times, let alone his brothers and sisters.

But when he heard that the library would be open to him, Minos immediately smiled.

Minos was certain that his brain's learning ability was not poor, but he did not think he was the sort of person whose body could keep up just because his mind had learned something. The reason he was happy was naturally because of Golden Paradise. After all, knowledge could also be traded there.

He did not have many Karma Points right now, so he could not exchange them for truly powerful things like bloodlines or items. But he could still exchange them for various kinds of knowledge and memories.

Even if much cultivation knowledge only worked in its own world and would become practically useless after entering another, at least the simplest methods for training the body should not have too many problems, right?

He could also exchange for memories of powerful people fighting and training. Their combat systems might differ somewhat, but combat experience, especially experience in close-quarters brawling, should still be useful in this world.

Looks like being backed by the Charlotte Pirates really has its benefits. The Navy would never nurture me like this.

The Navy's training was more systematic, and thus it would not pour all its resources into a select few. Usually, only after layer upon layer of study, training, and assessment would it truly invest more resources.

As for pirates, especially a Yonko Crew like this one, there were not so many rules. As long as someone like the captain took a liking to you, you would not lack resources of any kind.

Since time was tight and he would probably have to follow Katakuri to Wheat Island in a few days, Minos got up and went to find Mondol without hesitation.

Talon naturally had no interest in reading. Little Brulee, on the other hand, directly led him to Mondol.

After hearing Brulee relay the message, Mondol did not hesitate and spoke directly.

"I understand. Since it's Katakuri's order, you can go in."

Mondol, the user of the Book-Book Fruit, sounded as if he possessed a Devil Fruit ability focused on culture and intelligence. In reality, he had developed it into an ability for creating monsters and pocket dimensions.

Of course, one could not say that ability was weak, but calling him a cultured man would be nonsense. Therefore, he did not really care much about the books in the library.

After walking around the library, Minos found that its books were a complete mess. There were cultivation manuals, all kinds of history books, and even storybooks, with barely any organization.

He did not care about that. He found a large bag and began stuffing all the cultivation books into it. After all, Mondol, the Book-Book Fruit user, could duplicate books. Even if Minos emptied the entire library, Mondol could reproduce everything in just a few minutes.

Sure enough, when Minos came out carrying the books, Mondol merely expressed surprise that he could read so many. Then he waved a hand, duplicated a large number of books, and tossed them back into the library.
