In the dim underground world, two humans and a giant centipede faced off. In terms of size, the humans were at a disadvantage.
The giant centipede was curious. It made a very human-like gesture, touching its chin with a leg, just as humans do when they rest their chin in their hand while thinking. Its limited intelligence couldn't fathom how these humans could possibly keep it here, so it concluded they were trying to trick it.
"Let's see, how do you plan to stop me from leaving?" the giant centipede asked, its head moving side to side, its tone mocking.
"No need to rush," Ming Jing smiled. He even pulled Konan down to sit on the ground with him, then looked at the giant centipede and asked, "I'm curious, how did you get so big?"
"This!" The giant centipede thought back, then pointed a leg towards the end of the cave they were in. "Ah, right, at the very end of this path, there's an underground spring. The water there is different from other places. Wait, why am I telling you this? Damn humans!"
"Hmm, I see. We'll go take a look later," Ming Jing nodded, his expression serious.
The giant centipede was startled. It didn't know why the spring water made it grow so large, but it was certain that the spring water was definitely a good thing!
Good things should be enjoyed by a centipede alone!
The giant centipede sorted out its thoughts and said with a cold laugh, "You don't have a chance anymore. I'm going to eat you right here!" As soon as it finished speaking, the giant centipede opened its massive mouth and lunged towards Ming Jing and Konan.
With a "boom," the giant centipede laughed triumphantly, believing it had succeeded!
But a voice interrupted its fantasy.
"Illusion Technique: Pushing the Platform into the Wall!"
Not far away, Ming Jing stood in front of Konan, his left hand still holding hers, while his right hand gently pushed forward. It turned out that when Ming Jing had pulled Konan down to sit, he had cast a simple Illusion Technique on the giant centipede—the Heart Fox Technique. This moved him and Konan back nearly ten meters from where they were sitting, so what the giant centipede bit into was just dirt.
Seeing Ming Jing's action, the giant centipede suddenly felt like it was falling. It hadn't felt this sensation when it was groggy, but now, it truly felt itself falling.
Suddenly, the giant centipede's eyes lit up. It had been underground moments ago, but now it was in the air, seeing the blinding sun. Even more terrifying was that it was still falling! It struggled to turn its body and finally saw the scenery below—a lush, green forest.
With a "bang," the giant centipede broke several large trees before finally hitting the ground. It felt a sense of relief and instinctively tried to burrow into the earth. Suddenly, it felt its tail being grabbed by something. The giant centipede froze, and when it looked back, it saw a giant figure in a red and white tight-fitting suit, with eyes like half an eggshell, standing behind it. This was a creature called Ultraman, who loved fighting small monsters.
"Chaa!" The giant figure grabbed the centipede's tail and with a mighty swing, actually flung it up! Then, the figure directly threw the giant centipede towards the sky.
Before the giant centipede could react, its body began to descend again. This time, it saw a cityscape below, with tall buildings. On top of one of the tallest buildings, a giant ape was roaring at the sky. Those who have seen the movie King Kong might find this familiar. Isn't this the ape that fought biplanes on the Empire State Building for its beloved girl?! Of course, that ape was fighting real planes!
The giant centipede felt the ape's provocation and roared back defiantly. The ape became completely enraged. Without waiting for the centipede to land, it leaped up, its massive arms like pillars supporting the sky, and with a mighty swing, the centipede, unable to dodge in mid-air, could only endure the blow. The enraged giant centipede decided that once it landed, it would give the ape a piece of its mind!
With the ape's assist, the giant centipede was once again in the air. Under the force of gravity, it began to descend again. This time, it landed on the ground successfully. The excited giant centipede was about to roar when another majestic roar interrupted it. The giant centipede looked up and saw a green giant wearing black shorts descending from the sky, stomping its head into the dirt with one foot...
"What happened?" Konan asked curiously, looking at the motionless giant centipede.
"Heh heh..." Ming Jing smiled triumphantly before explaining, "It's in a dream right now! And it will never wake up."
"Could it be the Ten-Tails Sword?" Konan frowned and asked. Legend has it that anything struck by the Ten-Tails Sword is absorbed into Susanoo's sake gourd, eternally sealed in a drunken dream.
"It's different from the Ten-Tails Sword!" Ming Jing continued to explain. "Pushing the Platform into the Wall is, in a sense, hypnosis, pulling consciousness into a dream. But the dreams created by Pushing the Platform into the Wall are layered. The deeper the dream layer, the slower the flow of time. The time flow in the first dream layer is 20 times slower than in the real world, and the time flow in the second dream layer is 20 times slower than in the first. The dream world constructed by Pushing the Platform into the Wall is theoretically infinite, and so on..." In fact, there were two main reasons why Ming Jing could cast the spell so easily on the giant centipede. First, the centipede's own intelligence was not high, and its resistance to illusion techniques was almost zero. Second, the centipede's intelligence and thought patterns were cultivated by Ming Jing himself. Was there anything easier than using a key to open a door?
"There's no way to wake it up? What if I attack it now?" Konan continued to ask.
"It's probably too late to attack it now. I don't know which dream layer it's in. However, the pain will likely never catch up to its sleeping consciousness," Ming Jing said as he pulled Konan along. As for the centipede? It would probably starve to death here in the end.
"Even you can't wake it up?"
"This is the first time I've used this technique. Theoretically, each dream layer will have a key 'totem.' As long as you find the 'totem,' you can leave that dream layer and return to the previous one. However, the problem is, I don't know what the 'totem' is for each layer."
"Why didn't you use this technique sooner?" Konan suddenly asked after a moment of silence.
Ming Jing felt a bit awkward, sensing that Konan might have misunderstood something! He had to explain, "It wasn't that I didn't want to, but that I couldn't. Centipedes have very poor memory. They lack even simple logical thinking skills and act entirely on instinct from their genes. Illusion techniques wouldn't have worked on it back then!"
"So you directly granted it logic and intelligence just to set the stage for this technique?" Konan said leisurely.
"That wasn't the case," Ming Jing shook his head. "At first, I intended to overload its brain capacity with knowledge. I didn't expect it to accidentally gain the ability to think."
"We're here." Konan stopped and pulled her hand out of Ming Jing's. Before them was a cave. In the center of the cave was a small spring, its water emitting a faint, glowing green light that illuminated the cave. Around the spring was a plant resembling ivy, covering the entire cave. Some of its branches bore red fruit.
As Konan was about to walk over, Ming Jing grabbed her. Konan frowned slightly and looked back at Ming Jing with some displeasure.
"Don't you find it strange?" Ming Jing said seriously. "Why would there be such a thriving plant in this cave? Centipedes are omnivores!"
Konan was startled and turned to observe. Soon, she also noticed something amiss. Besides the spring and the plant, there were no other living creatures in the cave.
"Is it the plant, or the spring water?" Konan murmured to herself.
"Both are problematic!" Ming Jing pulled Konan back slowly. "Let's leave here for now." As he spoke, the plant's branches suddenly moved without wind. The red fruits, like bells, made a "ding-ding-ding" sound. Immediately, the vines, like venomous snakes awakening from hibernation, slowly lifted a section, their tips pointing towards Ming Jing and Konan.
"Go!" Ming Jing leaped backward abruptly, pulling Konan and turning to run. The vines behind them seemed to realize their prey was escaping, and the ringing of the red fruits became more urgent. Tens of thousands of vines erupted from the cave, filling it in an instant.
Ming Jing pulled Konan and ran desperately. He was starting to doubt if his luck stat was negative; both wild monsters he'd encountered were, in a sense, immune to illusion techniques!
After running for nearly ten kilometers, they finally managed to shake off the vines. Ming Jing collapsed on the ground, gasping for air. He'd run more in these few chapters than in the previous tens of chapters combined!
"It seems its limit is less than ten kilometers," Konan confirmed, looking back. "And its speed isn't very fast. An average Chunin could outrun it."
"Hoo... thanks for the compliment!" Ming Jing rolled his eyes, panting.
