Whoosh~~~~ A locust-like Geth fighter swept across the sky, followed closely by a swarm of smaller, more agile bombers.
Sass-Tiin hid amid the ruins of a burned-out forest. Looking in the direction the fighters had gone, he saw a city in the distance—a city engulfed in war.
Countless plumes of black smoke rose from the city, like its final desperate cries.
Sass-Tiin watched the squadron fly over the city and dive down. A blaze immediately soared into the sky, and moments later, several new columns of black smoke rose from that area.
Hook Planet, the Yamrii homeworld, had fallen.
From the countless chaotic communications Sass-Tiin had intercepted since arriving on the planet, he learned that the only place still resisting was the planetary capital before him.
He had also learned from those communications that the Geth had attacked Hook Planet two months ago. The invasion had been enormous; at least dozens of cruiser-class Geth ships had descended upon the planet and severed all planetary communications at once.
Yamrii resistance had collapsed within four hours. The Geth then began their ground offensive, advancing slowly but steadily. With the powerful fire support of their warships, they swiftly captured Yamrii cities one after another, not even sparing small villages!
Afterward, the Geth fleet gradually withdrew, leaving only ground forces and a small number of warships behind for support. Yet their assault still crushed the Yamrii defenses with devastating ease.
Although the capital was still resisting, the Yamrii could practically already be declared extinct.
The communications Sass-Tiin heard were filled with despair and terror. This was a planetwide genocide! The Yamrii had nowhere to run and no strength to resist. They did not even have the chance to kneel and beg for mercy; they could only wait slowly for death...
