The Geth were created by the Separatists!
Sass Tiin had not dared acknowledge this insane possibility before, because it was simply too mad, too terrifying!
The thought had only occurred to him suddenly when he saw Hook Planet destroyed—he wanted to see Caladan Planet's fate.
He did not know whether he hoped to see Caladan Planet destroyed or see it survive, but he still wanted to go there, if only to prove this mad theory.
Caladan Planet was very close to Hook Planet. That was why the Yamrii had invaded Caladan Planet back then. But for the same reason, if Hook Planet had been destroyed by the Geth, there was no reason Caladan Planet should have escaped unscathed.
But if Caladan Planet had truly survived, it could never have been because they were lucky. The only possibility was that they were in league with the Geth.
It was utterly insane!
The Galactic Republic maintained extremely strict controls over droids. This was because there had been many droid uprisings throughout the Republic's history. Though all of them had been suppressed by the Republic's powerful fleets, the destruction caused by those rebellions was deeply etched into everyone's hearts.
Even now, the Galactic Republic had a law stipulating that, unless specially required otherwise, all droids had to undergo regular memory wipes, precisely to prevent them from developing intelligence.
One droid gaining intelligence was not frightening. What was frightening was collective intelligence!!
Moreover, droid rebellions were terrifying because the environments droids needed to survive were completely different from those required by other lifeforms! Droids could survive on all sorts of extreme planets, while organic life could only reproduce and thrive on habitable worlds.
Thus, when wars broke out between organic lifeforms, they generally exercised some restraint. They would not conduct Orbital Bombardment without reservation,
