Dark Master—Windu
When Mace Windu flew his fighter back to his flagship, the Endurance, a Hunter Class Battlecruiser, he was nearly shot down by his own side's anti-aircraft fire.
Although the fire-control systems and IFF transponders were still functioning, with communications lost, the highly strung turret operators still instinctively fired at every target that appeared on their radar.
This was a massive battlefield spanning more than 200,000 kilometers. At such a scale, a fighter was truly as insignificant as a grain of sand in the sea. Under normal circumstances, it was impossible to see anything in a space battle with the naked eye; even spotting a large warship was no easy task.
In fact, after the communications systems were cut off, the hardest-hit part of the Second Systems Army's main fleet was its fighter squadrons!
Fighters were too small to carry large, advanced radar and communications systems. Much of the time, they needed their carrier ships to command and guide them after launch. But now that communications had been severed, every fighter had become a headless fly.
To put it plainly, after communications were cut off, every fighter pilot found himself in the vastness of space, surrounded by darkness. Scattered points of light flickered from time to time, and you did not even know whether those lights were starlight or a capital ship that had just been blown apart.
Worst of all were the turbolaser bolts and missiles that came flying in from nowhere, impossible to guard against! And there was a high probability that they had been fired by their own warships.
When the communications system was functioning normally, commands would constantly be issued over the comms, sometimes with data sent directly to the nav computer. Which area their warships were covering with fire, where the main guns were
