Even Mace Windu could never have turned around this utterly ruined battle. In fact, after returning to the flagship, there was nothing he could do. With the Second Systems Army fleet's communications jammed, no matter how furious Windu became, they were still suffering a crushing defeat!
Under Sefrans Tann's command, the scattered Second Systems Army was no match at all. Republic warships racing about in every direction were divided, surrounded, and destroyed one by one by those smaller vessels. Anyone unaware of the situation might have thought Sefrans Tann held the numerical advantage! Yet in reality, Sefrans Tann, with fewer and smaller warships, had instead encircled the vastly larger Second Systems Army!
This slow and brutal process was sheer torment.
The commanders of the Second Systems Army could only watch helplessly as their warships, one after another, fell into the encirclement of the Separatists' swarms of small vessels and were torn to pieces.
And throughout it all, they could do nothing. Communications had been cut off; they could not even send a word of encouragement!
Many warships had tried to go to their aid earlier, but the Separatist fleet exploited its advantage in flexibility. They easily bypassed the main force of their fleet, constantly prowled the outskirts, and picked off every isolated warship!
The Behemoth-class battlecruisers kept firing their devastating Yamato Cannons. Even Hunter Class Battlecruisers did not dare face Yamato Cannon fire head-on. Every warship attempting to provide support was singled out by concentrated Yamato Cannon strikes, which the Hunter Class Battlecruisers simply could not withstand.
With the battle having reached this point, the Second Systems Army no longer had any possibility of victory. They could only desperately draw close to nearby warships, forming isolated little groups and barely clinging to life.
