Carl Kestis and Ferman took a passenger vehicle to a construction site on the outskirts. Their job today was to continue setting up modular housing there.
Several construction supervisors from the Duchy of Dawn were already assigning tasks and handing out tools. Quite a few construction robots were also there to assist with the work.
All in all, it was just busywork. What could have been completed easily had to be done manually.
Carl, Ferman, and three others formed a temporary team. Their goal was to finish assembling this modular house before they could go eat lunch. If they missed the latest meal time of two in the afternoon, they would have to go hungry.
Ferman was large enough to carry a modular component by himself, then install it with the construction robots' assistance. Meanwhile, Carl Kestis struggled to carry a part with another person toward the stairs.
"Just my luck. Why did I get stuck with a kid today?" the person opposite him complained.
The teams were put together temporarily, so sometimes someone ended up with a relatively weak teammate and had to take on more work. There was nothing to do about that except rely on luck. Otherwise, several people could sign up together and form a fixed team.
"I'm sorry. I'll do my best," Carl Kestis said sincerely.
He exerted all his strength to carry the part. If he used the Force, this work would be easy. But he could not take that risk, because no one knew whether using the Force rashly would expose him.
Or rather, the chances of being discovered were high. If someone used the Force, powerful Force users could sense it.
And Tang Xiao, the Grand Duke of Dawn constantly praised in the holographic broadcasts, was himself an extremely powerful Sith Lord.
