Darth Malthael closed his eyes and tried his best to recreate the sensation he had felt when he touched that black crystal. But there was simply too little information. The instant he touched the crystal, the One called 'Father' had destroyed it.
And there was still the same question: since 'Father' had the ability to destroy that crystal from Mortis, why had he not done so sooner? If only the Geth had touched it before, that would have been understandable. The Geth were inorganic beings, after all, and it was normal enough for them to have no connection to the Force.
But Darth Lilim had clearly participated in the experiment as well. Surely she could not have lacked a connection to the Force?
So why had 'Father' discovered it precisely when he touched the crystal, cursed him out, and destroyed it? And 'Father' had clearly pinned the blame for researching the crystal on him. He believed Malthael was the one conducting the research.
Could it be said, then, that he had actually been unaware of the Geth's and Darth Lilim's previous research?
But aside from being stronger, he should not have been fundamentally different from Darth Lilim, should he? Things like Death Force and Life Force should not have drawn the Ones' attention either.
What, exactly, made him different from them?
Darth Malthael suddenly frowned. Lowering his head, he looked at the Sith artifact on his wrist—Kresh's Gauntlet—and a somewhat uncertain conclusion suddenly formed in his mind.
A passageway?
He stood, removed the storage device, and casually swept his hand back, crushing the terminal into fragments. He said to Darth Lilim, "Take this thing to Drai II. Have the Priestess, Judgment, and the Protoss study it together. We'll go there and take part as well."
"Yes... Master." Darth Lilim remained
