Hyperspace communication between the Chiss territory and the Duchy of Dawn was indeed possible, but it had to rely on the magnetic radiation energy of stars. To make communication smoother, the Duchy of Dawn had built a hyperspace signal amplifier near the star of Masos Planet, where the stargate was located.
Even so, hyperspace communication remained unstable. This time, for instance, hyperspace turbulence had prevented the message from getting through, and it took more than a week before things returned to normal.
While waiting for Dawn Star Planet's reply, Admiral Qiyala led the joint fleet in destroying another planet controlled by the Grysk Hegemony. After witnessing the Grysk's atrocities, Admiral Qiyala temporarily set aside her misgivings about the Duchy of Dawn and devoted herself to directing the war.
The planet had a population of only around one hundred million, with three Grysk on it. Two were killed during the battle, while civilian casualties exceeded twenty-one million! This was because the Grysk had been prepared, and they too had mixed all the troops and civilians together, intending to resist to the bitter end.
