Since the war began in August of 11 BBY, more than three months had passed, and it was now late January of 10 BBY. First, they had wiped out an entire Imperial main fleet in the Planet Kira Campaign. Then, they had severely damaged the Empire's Northern Territory main force in the Malarian Alliance Battle. Immediately afterward, they had traded blows with the Empire at Fondor Planet. Now, Fondor Planet looked unlikely to hold out for more than another month.
Then the Commerce Guild Fleet defeated Lieutenant General Kendall Ozir at Bilbrin Planet and began directly attacking the planet. Darth Vader had likewise failed to gain any advantage in his encounter with Sefrans Tann.
To many, this situation meant that the Galactic Empire was on the verge of collapse!
However, the Galactic Empire had inherited the Galactic Republic's foundations spanning twenty-five thousand years. How could it possibly fall apart within three months?
The Kingdom of Dawn's advance was ultimately stopped.
Although Operation Zero had been perfect in design, it began at the wrong time. The Kingdom of Dawn had been forced into a hasty offensive, while the Galactic Empire had defended in chaos. After Sefrans Tann forcibly followed the plan and annihilated the Empire's Southern Territory main fleet at Kira planet, she immediately made a huge detour across the Milky Way Galaxy to attack the Galactic Empire's 12th Legion in the Eastern Territory.
Such an aggressive strategy, one that neglected the rear while focusing on the front, naturally gave Darth Vader the chance to charge headlong into the fray and completely disrupt the Kingdom of Dawn's deployment.
