2436, Battle Situation (Part 1)
Now that the fighting on both the Northern Territory and Fondor Planet fronts had subsided, General Grievous did not dare make any overly aggressive moves. At this point, the Galactic Empire had more mobile forces available to deploy to the Eastern Territory, so there was no need for him to provoke them.
In fact, on the Eastern Territory front, General Grievous was merely a military advisor. The ones truly fighting this war were the Hutts—or, more precisely, the Goresla Family.
Ever since Oruba-Goresla declared the establishment of a unified Hutt government and appointed himself Hutt Grand Leader, Hutt Space had remained in political turmoil.
He rebuilt The Grand Hutt Council and reorganized it into the Elder Council, likewise consisting of five members representing the five major families. However, this Elder Council possessed only advisory power and no decision-making authority. Decision-making power still remained in the hands of the Goresla Family.
Yet among these five major families, the Besadi kajidic led by Gaddula-Besadi, whom he had propped up, and the Desilijic kajidic led by Ziro-Desilijic had long since scattered and fled. They were now nothing more than empty shells bearing the names of legendary families.
Of the remaining two families, one was the Kunnarac family, led by Marlo-Kunnarac, while the other was the Anjiliac family, led by Zieta-Anjiliac. After the decline of the Besadi and Desilijic kajidics, these two families had expanded at breakneck speed and had now become the most powerful families after the ruling Goresla Family.
In other words, Hutt Space was now effectively ruled by three coexisting giants.
In order to become Grand Leader, Oruba-Goresla had actually made many political compromises. While gaining the support of the Kunnarac family and the Anjiliac family, he had also allowed these two families to grow too
