Since the outbreak of the Second War between the Galactic Empire and the Kingdom of Dawn in August of 11 BBY, half a year had passed. The date was now April 10, 10BBY—a special day for the Bosa.

It was special because this day marked the first anniversary of Bothawui's independence.

That was right. One year.

When the Galactic Empire had begun looking for excuses to pick a fight with the Trade Federation, the Bosa had already realized that their path with the Galactic Empire had reached its end. The Galactic Empire's policies toward non-human species and the Outer Rim Territories had determined that the Bosa had no future under Imperial rule.

In truth, faced with such a situation, the vast majority of non-human species across the Milky Way Galaxy could only resign themselves to their fate. Because one indisputable fact was that the Human race had indeed been the first to venture into space. After the Taung and the Zhell ended their civil war on Coruscant, with the non-Human Taung driven off the planet, the Zhell, as a Human race, swiftly developed hyperspace travel technology and seized the initiative in development.

Thus, throughout the Milky Way Galaxy, Humanity's direct-descendant species and species with direct genetic ties to Humans held an absolute advantage in both population and development. Most non-human species had only entered space under Human influence after Humans arrived on their planets.

The advantage of moving first allowed the Human race to establish an extremely harsh system of exploitation.

Take Blue Star, for example. If one day an alien species suddenly came and told you they could give you interstellar travel technology, on the condition that your planet became their economic vassal, surrendered its tariff rights, and allowed their advanced products easy access to Blue Star's markets.
