These two races, both of which inhabited Dak Planet, had countless grudges and entanglements between them, all steeped in bloodshed and violence.
The Mon Calamari were a shallow-sea amphibious race. They had evolved relatively early and could move about on land, occupying all the few island chains on this ocean planet. Thus, the Mon Calamari had always been the planet's dominant race and had developed a highly advanced civilization.
The deep-sea-dwelling Quarren had developed later. By the time they gradually grew powerful, they found that the Mon Calamari stood between them and the ocean passages leading to the sky.
The warlike Quarren did not hesitate to launch a war. They allied with two other deep-sea races: the whale-like giant Whaladon and the jellyfish-like Gestalt consciousness race Moappa. The three races joined forces to attack the Mon Calamari.
Generally speaking, the Mon Calamari were a peace-loving race. So although their technological civilization was more advanced, they still struggled against the combined assault of three races and suffered severe losses early in the war.
But as the war progressed, the Mon Calamari were roused to bloody determination. Their fighting became more resolute, more decisive, and ultimately more ruthless! Combined with their technological and industrial strength, which had already far surpassed those of the three races, they swiftly turned the tide of the war.
This dreadful war lasted from 4775 BBY to 4400 BBY, continuing for more than 375 years. The Whaladon were nearly exterminated and remained a rare endangered race even now. Once the Moappa realized things were going badly, they withdrew from the war quickly enough.
The Quarren suffered terribly. Their determination to open a passage between the deep sea and the sky was so unwavering that they never stopped attacking, even to the very end. As a
