Mina-Tills
Meanwhile, Dak Planet.
Beneath the surface of this ocean world, undercurrents were already surging. The clouds of war hung over the planet's skies, and everyone lived in fear that the planet would once again be dragged into war.
The two major races of Dak Planet—the Quarren and the Mon Calamari—were locked in open and covert conflict.
The Mon Calamari wanted to reclaim their dominant position on Dak Planet, but they also knew that the Quarren had gained the support of the Kingdom of Dawn. Moreover, the Kingdom of Dawn had constructed a stargate on nearby Lothal Planet, making reinforcements easy to deploy.
So they were deeply conflicted. If they surrendered to the Kingdom of Dawn, they would remain vassals of the Quarren. But if they resisted, they clearly lacked the strength to confront the Kingdom of Dawn.
Thus, the Mon Calamari attempted to use the Galactic Empire's power against the Kingdom of Dawn. Ever since Gideon Tarkin had led a powerful fleet into the Eastern Territory, the Mon Calamari had begun conspiring and communicating with the Empire through various channels.
After receiving Gideon Tarkin's assurance that the Galactic Empire would certainly launch a direct attack on Lothal Planet, the Mon Calamari provided him with a secret hyperspace route.
Through this secret route, Gideon Tarkin could travel directly from Chad Planet to Baros Planet, then attack Lothal Planet from Baros Planet. The entire journey required only one day of hyperspace travel.
The Mon Calamari had originally planned to hand the secret route over to the Galactic Empire, then wait until the Empire destroyed Lothal Planet's stargate and secured the advantage before stepping forward to join the Galactic Empire in resisting the Kingdom of Dawn. At the same time, they could use the Empire's power to stomp the Quarren back into
