That name was a legend throughout the entire Milky Way Galaxy. Not few people knew of the Kilik Swarm, but neither were they numerous. Moreover, it was an ancient super-civilization that could still be seen and touched in today's galaxy.
Before the rise of the Galactic Republic, there had been only two civilizations that could truly be said to have dominated the galaxy—the Rakatan Infinite Empire and the Kilik Swarm.
The Infinite Empire could at most be considered a hegemon, because the territory it controlled covered only part of the Core Worlds. It was simply that, during its era, no force in the galaxy existed that could contend with it.
The Infinite Empire had been founded upon the Dark Side Force. However, a mysterious plague later broke out, and an unknown virus severed the Rakatans' connection to the Force. They subsequently declined, and by the time the Galactic Republic rose, they had nearly perished.
Compared with the Infinite Empire, however, the Kilik Swarm was the truly terrifying super-civilization.
Research into currently verified Relics showed that the Kilik Swarm ruled the galaxy from one hundred thousand years ago until thirty-five thousand years ago. And one hundred thousand years ago was merely the height of their power—the true duration of their rule over the galaxy remained entirely unknown.
After the upheaval one hundred thousand years ago, which may have involved the gods, the Kilik Swarm entered a state of continual degeneration. Yet even so, they endured for sixty-five thousand years before being defeated by the newly risen Infinite Empire.
