What the Galactic Empire and the Kingdom of Dawn were fighting in the Eastern Territory was a miserable fight, literally.
Their struggle here had neither honor nor benefit—every kind of scheming and deception. And with the Rebel Alliance around, both sides' intelligence on each other was completely transparent.
It was like two people standing on opposite sides of a wall, with the only way they could hurt each other being to throw cockroaches over it. So while being driven to screaming in disgust by the cockroaches from their own side, they still had to keep throwing more cockroaches at the other side.
The more cockroaches they threw out, the more were thrown back at them.
Yet they could not stop, because the moment they did, they alone would be hurt.
Originally, Gideon Tarkin's side had wanted to stall until the Death Star was completed. After all, once the Death Star was finished, it would be invincible.
Lin Nanyi, on the other hand, wanted to consolidate the planets they had already occupied as quickly as possible. Dak Planet and Port Pament were already under their control, and so long as they could eliminate the Rebel Alliance's influence, the Eastern Territory would unleash tremendous productivity.
With such intentions, both sides continued pouring troops into the Eastern Territory while infiltrating each other through the Rebel Alliance, tacitly hunkering down and refusing to make a move.
