After the initial chaos, Coruscant finally bared its fangs.
Although that period of chaos had lasted a full hour, when Coruscant began to strike back, its counterattack was still devastating.
Coruscant was a planet that had been thoroughly urbanized—no, more accurately, urbanized 5,173 times. Its surface had been divided into 5,173 layers! In terms of total usable surface area, it was roughly equivalent to more than 4,500 planets!
In other words, Coruscant's usable area was the equivalent of over 4,500 planets combined!
On the unrecorded third level of the planet, indicator lights and energy nodes suddenly lit up. Hidden massive machinery began to operate, revealing one kilometer-long colossal Orbital Defense Cannons one after another.
The Orbital Defense Cannons began moving upward along their rails, their muzzles slowly rising as dim blue energy surged and gathered between the rifling. Layer upon layer of camouflage unfolded ahead of the rails—an office building here, a villa there. As the hatchways opened, the buildings collapsed one after another, exposing the cold alloy gun-platform foundations beneath.
Those gun-platform foundations disguised as civilian buildings sank into the ground, revealing energy conduits below that led directly into the planet's crust. Their walls were several meters thick, cast from Quadanium Steel, the special alloy Kuat Drive Yards used to build warships. Plasma compressed to its critical state was suddenly unleashed!
Enormous beams of light shot straight into the sky—not one or two, but hundreds. And this was not even the entirety of Coruscant's defense system.
After tens of thousands of years of development, Coruscant's defensive network had been woven into a web that covered the entire planet and ran deep beneath its crust. Like countless neural networks, every node among its densely packed branches corresponded to a massive defense platform or an Orbital Defense Cannon.
