After the Battle of Coruscant, the entire Milky Way Galaxy could see that the Galactic Empire and the Fourth Empire had fought each other to mutual ruin. Both sides had suffered devastating fleet losses; proportionally speaking, each had sacrificed more than half of its mobile fleets.
Of course, since the battle had been fought in the Galactic Empire's capital, and since they had paid the enormous price of Emperor Palpatine's death and Coruscant being completely thrown into chaos, the victor and loser of this battle were obvious at a glance.
Yet victory and defeat were secondary. It was equally obvious that the Fourth Empire absolutely lacked the ability to swallow the Galactic Empire in one bite.
The Fourth Empire had ultimately been forced to retreat and leave Coruscant. That, too, was the result of this reality.
The consequence was that both the Galactic Empire and the Fourth Empire saw their control over their border regions greatly weakened, and the liberals naturally seized this opportunity.
The Galactic Empire was now in complete chaos. Other than the Core Worlds, the outer regions had entirely slipped out of control. Multiple governors declared independence, and some generals commanding troops even defected outright.
The now-vacant Mid Rim and Outer Rim Territories had basically become a paradise for liberals.
Liberals launched uprisings one after another, driving out Galactic Empire officials, wiping out Galactic Empire garrisons, and establishing temporary autonomous councils.
Most of these autonomous planets had not actually been instigated by the Rebel Alliance, but had become autonomous spontaneously. These planets could not wait to break free from the shackles of Galactic Empire rule and begin rebuilding order in their own way.
Most of these planets shared something in common. After declaring autonomy, they would often immediately abolish the old laws, draft new charters, establish democratic
