Year 1 of the Fourth Empire, June 6, 6:00 p.m.
At this triple-six hour, a dazzling burst of fire flared beside the hidden space station—the Death Star Laboratory—on the outskirts of Eriadu.
It was immediately followed by a violent shockwave and even more violent tremors.
Even this massive scientific research space station, over 11,000 meters at its widest diameter, shook violently under the explosion, its Deflector Shield sounding alarms without pause.
Yet in the face of this crisis, cheers erupted inside the laboratory.
"Success!!"
"It really blew up! We blew up the model with just one miniature Proton Torpedo!"
"That's right, that's right!! The explosion data is exactly the same as our calculations!!"
He Keyou grabbed Galen Erso in a hug and burst out laughing. "Hahahaha! You really are a genius! Hahahaha!"
Galen Erso wore a polite smile as he watched these top scientists of the Fourth Empire shouting and celebrating.
He understood why they were so happy. He also understood that, if he were in their place, he might have been trembling with excitement too.
But that did not mean he could empathize with them.
The Fourth Empire could build the Death Star.
That was the conclusion Galen Erso had reached during their nearly day-long interaction... He could see that the Fourth Empire's scientific team had an extremely mature technical foundation for every stage of the Death Star, even more mature than the Galactic Empire's team.
His original plan had been to risk his life to destroy the Death Star data disk after completing the experiment. Now, he saw there was no need.
Because he had discovered that the Fourth Empire's military technology was far more advanced than he had imagined.
This Empire had surpassed the Galactic Empire in every respect—even in its degree
