A mysterious shuttle arrived at the Alaris satellite in the Kashyyyk system.

Ever since the Alaris satellite had been captured by Sefrans Tann, it had been looted by the droid army. Although Shen-Jon's forces soon recaptured it, the damage done to the satellite was irreparable.

The satellite's five Wookiee military bases had been destroyed, and its massive research facilities had been reduced to ruins by the Extractor's devastating power. This planet had lost its original purpose.

After Shen-Jon's army departed, the Alaris satellite was left completely defenseless. The Wookiees, having suffered grievous losses, were unable to send further reinforcements to the satellite. In truth, they had already been fighting for years—starting one year before the Battle of Naboo, they had fought the Trade Federation on and off for six full years. Though warlike by nature, the endless conflict had pushed their economy to the brink of collapse.

In fact, the reason the Wookiees had been willing to take on the Extractor, a secret project that was obviously a hot potato, was probably their financial troubles.

So when this shuttle landed on Alaris at this time, no one noticed it—or rather, no one cared.

Count Dooku stepped down from the shuttle and directed more than a dozen mercenaries to open the cargo hold of the modified vessel, revealing a hollow spherical device below.

"Stand guard around the area. Don't let anyone approach!" Count Dooku ordered the mercenaries.
