Darth Malthael suddenly opened his eyes and took a deep breath. With a raised hand, a cup of water flew into his grasp. He swirled the cup, and in that instant, the Life Force killed every microorganism mixed into the water before he drained it in one gulp.
Haruun Kal held too many mysteries. In the eyes of many scholars and explorers, those mysteries stemmed from the planet's unique environment—microorganisms in the air, fungal spores, or chaotic magnetic fields.
Of course, Force-sensitive individuals such as Jedi Knights believed that this planet was alive.
Darth Malthael thought so as well, though that did not stop him from clearing every microorganism and spore from the local food before eating it.
Darth Pregas's specter could no longer affect him. He had long understood that it was not truly Darth Pregas's ghost, but merely a trace of his will left behind in the Force.
Back on Planet Dagobah, he had already overcome that trial, further strengthening his Dark Side Force.
The cultivation of the Force had two aspects. One was exploring the nature of the Force; the other was exploring one's own nature.

Having reached Darth Malthael's level in the Force, he could already sense how the Force manifested differently in each person.
