"Xue'er, look—something's heading our way."
In the core circle of the Extreme North, Ice Empress pointed at a blue meteor streaking across the sky, a hint of curiosity in her voice.
A meteor falling from the heavens—any creature on land would feel at least some curiosity about it.
And on Douluo Continent, a place where extraordinary power existed, a meteor from beyond the sky stirred even greater longing.
Who knew—it might be a stroke of great fortune!
Even at the very least, something falling from beyond the sky would be a rare ore, enough to forge a divine weapon. With a meteor this dazzling, whatever came with it couldn't be anything ordinary.
Since neither Ice Empress nor Snow Empress had anything pressing to do, there was no harm in going to take a look.
Both women had a gut feeling that their end was fast approaching. In their desperation, they were grasping at any possible chance.
Following the direction where the meteor had fallen, Snow Empress and Ice Empress quickly found its landing site.
A massive crater.
The Extreme North was known for its bone-chilling cold, blanketed in snow year-round. But the ice and snow around this crater had been completely melted away, revealing bare soil and scorched black earth.
When they looked deeper into the crater, both Snow Empress and Ice Empress stiffened.
"A... baby?" Ice Empress parted her crimson lips, staring at the infant wrapped in a flower at the center of the crater, her expression one of shock.
She could hardly believe it—such a tremendous commotion had been caused by a baby?
That meteor just now... was this infant?
Though Snow Empress showed little emotion on the surface, she was equally stunned inside.
Could this child be the legendary Divine Child, sent down from the God Realm to train?
As the ruler of the Extreme North and one of the top combatants on Douluo Continent, Snow Empress knew at least some of the continent's hidden secrets.
Including, of course, the existence of gods.
Born in the Extreme North as a snow spirit who believed in the Ice God, Snow Empress did not harbor the same hostility toward the gods of the God Realm and humans as the soul beasts of the Star Dou Great Forest did.
Of course, since the God Realm had imposed the Heavenly Tribulation on soul beasts, blocking their path to godhood, it was hard for her to feel any goodwill toward the gods either.
"There will probably be more humans and soul beasts coming here soon. Bing'er, let's leave first." Snow Empress waved her hand, her soul power sweeping the infant out of the crater, cradling him together with the green great flower that served as his swaddling.
"Alright." Ice Empress glanced once more at the baby in Snow Empress's arms, roughly cleaned up the traces around the site, and after confirming nothing else was left, left together with Snow Empress.
Sure enough, after Snow Empress and Ice Empress departed, several groups of nearby soul masters and Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts came by one after another. But after checking the area, they all left.
The traces at the scene were obvious—someone had already gotten there first...
In the core area of the Extreme North, Snow Empress and Ice Empress stared at the infant before them, lost in thought.
"Xue'er, what are you planning to do? Send him straight to human society, or..." Ice Empress trailed off mid-sentence.
Of course, she wasn't suggesting killing him or using him as a medicinal ingredient.
Putting everything else aside, Ice Empress knew Snow Empress well. As a Heavenly Snow Woman born from heaven and earth, a darling of nature, she had always had a compassionate heart. She could be ruthless toward soul masters who coveted soul beasts, but faced with an innocent baby who knew nothing, Snow Empress would never be able to harm him.
And more importantly, his origins were extraordinary. They didn't believe for a second that he had no defensive measures on him.
"How about... we raise him ourselves?" Snow Empress suddenly said.
"But... we have no experience," Ice Empress hesitated.
"I can go to a human town and learn a little. Everything else won't be a problem." A hint of resolve appeared on Snow Empress's face.
Of course, it wasn't maternal instinct or anything like that driving her to raise this infant. There had to be another reason.
She knew very well that her end was not far off. Though Ice Empress never said it, Snow Empress could more or less tell that her end was also approaching.
She had originally made a decision: when the time truly came, she would be the first to transform into a human, grow strong, and then let Ice Empress transform as well. By then, she herself would be strong enough to protect Bing'er.
But honestly, that plan carried no small amount of risk.
Now, another choice lay before them...
This infant had come with a meteor—he was certainly no ordinary being. He might even be a Divine Child from the heavens. At the very least, he would be an existence with extraordinary talent.
If that was the case, why not raise him, and by virtue of this nurturing grace, let him lead both her and Ice Empress toward a higher existence?
"Alright. Since this is Xue'er's decision, then so be it." Ice Empress nodded, agreeing to the matter.
As for why Snow Empress had made this decision, she had a rough idea.
Just as the two women made their decision, the green great flower wrapped around the infant unfurled, splitting into two streams of light that poured into Snow Empress and Ice Empress's bodies.
Under their stunned gazes, the auras of both women began to surge wildly.
In the end, Snow Empress's age directly reached eight hundred and twenty thousand years, while Ice Empress reached five hundred and ninety thousand years.
Dark clouds began to gather in the sky, arcs of electricity flickering within them, as if something was brewing...
But just then, a flash of purple light wiped away the clouds. The great tribulation that had made both Snow Empress and Ice Empress's hearts race seemed to have been erased entirely.
They both felt something—their talent seemed to have been greatly enhanced, and a faint, intangible connection had formed between them and the infant.
Snow Empress and Ice Empress exchanged glances, their gazes involuntarily falling on the infant before them. A flicker of determination passed through both their eyes.
"Can we go now, senior..."
In the God Realm, the Five Great God Kings stared at the enormous half-man, half-horse phantom before them, cold sweat trickling unbidden down their foreheads.
Lan's gaze seemed to pierce through layer after layer of obstruction, landing on the tiny infant on Douluo Continent.
Then, he nodded, and his figure vanished from where he stood.
After Lan disappeared, it seemed a few more gazes crossed the barriers of time and space to look this way, but then, as if blocked by something, the restless imaginary energy around them faded away without a trace.
"Phew~"
"What do we do next?"
"What else can we do? Just follow that one's wishes."
"Destruction, Life, you two are truly fortunate. So easily, you've gained an heir more suitable than suitable..."
