Background / History
Following the Dragon God's defeat and death, the Dragon God divided into the Golden Dragon King and the Silver Dragon King. The Golden Dragon King was imprisoned in the God Realm, while Gu Yuena escaped into the lower realm. She became a fugitive of the God Realm and retained the loyalty of some former Dragon God subordinates, including Di Tian. 46
Gu Yuena was severely wounded by a sword strike from the Shura God during her escape. Without access to divine power in the lower realm, she entered seclusion within the Silver Dragon Space to recover. 45
When she sensed the God of Destruction's aura in the Star Dou Great Forest, Gu Yuena concluded that the God Position had likely gained a successor. Rather than ordering an immediate assassination, she recognized that provoking the God of Destruction could bring disastrous retaliation from the God Realm. 41
She instead sent Di Tian to test Lang Lei, the successor of the God of Destruction, and entrusted him with a dragon scale containing her power. Gu Yuena specifically ordered Di Tian not to offend Lang Lei excessively. 41
After Di Tian attacked Lang Lei's group, Gu Yuena reprimanded him for acting against her instructions. Although displeased by Snow Empress and Ice Empress aligning themselves with Lang Lei, she understood that their choice could protect the Soul Beasts of the Extreme North and provide a test of Lang Lei's willingness to accept Soul Beasts. 44
Through her Reverse Scale, Gu Yuena later projected a wisp of her spiritual power into Lang Lei's sea of consciousness. She disclosed her identity and asked that Lang Lei not become her enemy or reveal their discussion to the God Realm. Her projection disappeared after its energy was exhausted. 46
Appearance
In her true form, Gu Yuena is an immense silver dragon whose body nearly fills the Silver Dragon Space. Her appearance combines elegance with overwhelming draconic majesty. 41
- Silver scales with a cold, metallic sheen.
- Sharp dorsal spines along her back.
- Tall dragon horns and flame-like vertical pupils.
- Powerful limbs and a long, flexible neck.
- Vast folded wings capable of blotting out the sun when unfurled. 41
When projecting herself through the Reverse Scale, she appears as a young woman in white with fair skin and long hair. 46
Personality
Gu Yuena is patient, calculating, and highly conscious of the balance of power between the Soul Beasts and the God Realm. She avoids impulsive action even when confronting the successor of an enemy God King, preferring to prepare discreetly and exploit opportunities that could benefit her long-term plans. 41
She harbors deep hostility toward the God Realm because of the war involving the Dragon God and its aftermath. However, she is pragmatic enough to recognize that Lang Lei's attitude toward Soul Beasts may determine whether cooperation is possible. 41 44
Despite Di Tian's recklessness, she values his loyalty and strength. She forgives his disobedience after reprimanding him, rather than weakening one of her most dependable subordinates. 44
Abilities & Powers
Silver Dragon Space Concealment
Gu Yuena resides in a hidden space that conceals her from the God Realm while she recovers.
- She considers the Silver Dragon Space secure against detection by all but a being on the Dragon God's level. 41
- Her concealment prevents ordinary divine senses from locating her directly. 41 46
- Her hidden status allows her to direct Soul Beast forces without openly exposing herself to the God Realm. 41
Reverse Scale and Spiritual Projection
Gu Yuena possesses a Reverse Scale infused with her origin and divine power.
- She used the Reverse Scale to send a wisp of spiritual power into Lang Lei's sea of consciousness. 46
- The projection was unable to overcome Elysia, who trapped it in a crystal barrier. 46
- The scale's origin and divine power were absorbed by Lang Lei; its later transformation led to Na'er's appearance. 47
- The God of Destruction identifies an inverse scale as one of the most important scales a dragon possesses. 45
Soul Beast Authority
As the Beast Sovereign, Gu Yuena commands Di Tian, the continent's Beast God.
- Di Tian kneels before her and awaits her instructions with absolute reverence. 41
- She directs him to investigate Lang Lei while limiting the risk of provoking the God of Destruction. 41
- She can discipline Di Tian for acting independently, though she ultimately pardons him for his loyalty. 44
Dragon Might and Divine Origin
Gu Yuena's power remains potent even through traces of her origin.
- The God of Destruction detects the Silver Dragon King's power on Lang Lei after he acquires her Reverse Scale. 45
- Lang Lei's Silver Dragon King Martial Soul manifests after he takes Na'er's hand, exerting pressure even on top-tier Soul Beasts such as Snow Empress and Ice Empress. 48
- Her scale is regarded as a divine object that Snow Empress and Ice Empress cannot damage. 48
Relationships
- Dragon God — Her predecessor, or “father”; after his death, he split into Gu Yuena and the Golden Dragon King. 46
- Golden Dragon King — Her counterpart created from the Dragon God's division; he was imprisoned in the God Realm. 46
- Di Tian — Her strongest and most loyal subordinate. He carries out her orders but impulsively attacks Lang Lei, earning her reprimand. 41 44
- Lang Lei — The God of Destruction's successor whom Gu Yuena has Di Tian test. She asks Lang Lei for future help and seeks assurance that he will not become her enemy. 41 46
- Elysia — Protector of Lang Lei's sea of consciousness who captures Gu Yuena's spiritual projection before learning her identity and circumstances. 46
- Na'er — A silver-haired girl who appears after Gu Yuena's Reverse Scale reemerges and emits light; Na'er is closely tied to Lang Lei's Silver Dragon King Martial Soul and can become the Silver Dragon Spear. 47 48 49
- God of Destruction — A former enemy from the God Realm whose successor becomes central to Gu Yuena's plans. She considers direct provocation of him too dangerous. 41 45
- Goddess of Life — A God Realm figure who recognizes that Gu Yuena is likely still alive and seeking a path of survival for the Soul Beast race. 45
- Snow Empress and Ice Empress — Soul Beasts of the Extreme North whose protection of Lang Lei initially displeases Gu Yuena, though she understands their reasoning. 44
Story Role / Major Arcs
The God of Destruction's Successor
Gu Yuena detects the God of Destruction's presence in the Star Dou Great Forest and deduces that a successor has appeared. She chooses indirect testing over immediate conflict, sending Di Tian with her dragon scale. 41
Di Tian's Defiance
Di Tian ignores the spirit of Gu Yuena's orders and attacks Lang Lei, Snow Empress, and Ice Empress. After his retreat, Gu Yuena rebukes him but withholds punishment because of his longstanding loyalty. 42 43 44
Contact with Lang Lei
Gu Yuena enters Lang Lei's sea of consciousness through her Reverse Scale and reveals that she is hiding from the God Realm after the Dragon God's defeat. Lang Lei agrees not to expose their conversation and leaves open the possibility of helping her later. 46
Legacy of the Reverse Scale
After Lang Lei absorbs the Reverse Scale's origin and divine power, the scale manifests the silver-haired Na'er. Lang Lei subsequently awakens the Silver Dragon King Martial Soul, while Na'er becomes the medium through which he can summon the Silver Dragon Spear. 47 48 49
Trivia
- Gu Yuena considers the God of Destruction and Goddess of Life unusually important enemies because their succession may involve two God Kings rather than an ordinary god. 41
- The Goddess of Life initially suggests that Gu Yuena may have died after learning Lang Lei possesses her origin-stained Reverse Scale, but later privately concludes that Gu Yuena is still alive. 45
- Gu Yuena's plan depends in part on whether Lang Lei can accept Soul Beasts without prejudice. 44
