At that moment, Su Yu was escorting Butler Charlemagne deeper into Baron Wilson's estate.

Walking along the pebble path paved with fine cobblestones and watching the baron's castle draw nearer, Tina's expression grew somewhat tense.

He raised his longsword and roared at the guards behind him, "Attack together! Take down this bandit!"

"Yes, sir!" The guards tightened their grips on their weapons and charged at Su Yu alongside Adams.

Seeing arcs of electricity gathering at the tip of Su Yu's staff, cold sweat streamed down Captain Adams's forehead. "Don't, wait! Adventurer, the baron is in the study on the second floor!"

Faced with death, he betrayed his master without hesitation.

Su Yu interrupted his casting and turned to Tina. "Come on! We're going to the second floor."

Su Yu strode into the castle and headed up the stairs leading to the second floor.

"Okay!" Tina hurried after him.

After entering the castle, she looked back at the miserable, panic-stricken guards and exclaimed in amazement:

"Kexing, you're actually this strong! Even the powerful Adams was no match for you! Sister Quinn probably isn't even as strong as you!"

"Of course. Without some real skill, why would I dare storm a baron's estate?" Su Yu smiled. "But later, I'll go in and deal with Baron Wilson. You just wait outside."

"Understood!" Tina nodded obediently, her gaze toward Su Yu faintly filled with Worship.

Two minutes later, Su Yu entered the baron's study alone.

Baron Wilson was sitting in a large leather chair in the study, leafing through a parchment book.

When he saw Su Yu enter, he raised the coffee on his desk in greeting, his expression calm and composed.

"Adventurer, you're very clever!" Baron Wilson stood and applauded Su Yu. "I've long since grown tired of country girls like Tina. A beauty from Oran City like Quinn has far more appeal!"

"However, clever people often don't live long. Do you know why?"

Baron Wilson picked up the staff resting beside him.

He was actually a mage as well!

"I don't know. Could you tell me?" Su Yu smiled.

"Because of this!" Baron Wilson struck first and began casting a spell.

A second and a half later, an egg-sized fireball shot from the tip of his staff and flew rapidly toward Su Yu's head!

Su Yu remained where he was, merely tilting his head to the left.

The fireball streaked past his ear and struck the wall behind him, causing Su Yu no damage at all.

Su Yu had been a high-level mage in his previous life.

Against spells cast by a low-level mage like Baron Wilson, he did not even need to look. By sound alone, he could determine a spell's direction, power, and range with near-perfect accuracy.

So Su Yu had simply tilted his head and easily dodged it, without even needing to cast Ice Shield.

Baron Wilson, meanwhile, was completely stunned by Su Yu's almost miraculous evasion.

He stood frozen in place, staring at Su Yu in disbelief. "Who are you? Are you really a mage? Could you be an assassin pretending to be one?"

Baron Wilson gripped his staff tightly.

Even an assassin could hardly dodge Fireball so casually! Otherwise, how could mages survive?

"You don't need to know who I am. You only need to know that you're about to die. That's enough."

Su Yu began his counterattack, immediately unleashing Lightning Spell and a Fireball scroll.
