Background / History

Pope of Spirit Hall

Bibi Dong becomes the youngest Pope in Spirit Hall’s history. Her authority inspires near-servile obedience from the Golden Generation and public worship from thousands of Soul Masters. Hu Liena, the Golden Generation’s core member, is her direct disciple 132 133 146.

Her hostility toward Li Zhixian initially centers on his closeness to Qian Renxue. Li Zhixian identifies an earlier assassination attempt as retaliation for that relationship, while Qian Renxue later publicly accuses her mother of trying to kill him out of jealousy and madness 120 157.

During the Spirit Master Competition, Bibi Dong demands a Spirit Hall championship and accepts Hu Liena’s pledge to cripple Li Zhixian. When his public disregard for her authority unsettles the arena, she restores order through overwhelming pressure and redirects attention toward three soul bones offered as prizes 133 147.

The Papal Palace Battle

At the post-competition banquet, Bibi Dong offers Li Zhixian direct entry into the Elder Hall as its youngest elder. After he refuses, she confronts him over the deaths of seventeen Spirit Hall deacons—six Soul Kings and eleven Soul Ancestors. He answers that they had attempted to assassinate him 156 157.

Qian Renxue intervenes and declares her affection for Li Zhixian. Bibi Dong orders his detention, sending Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo to capture him. The confrontation expands as Dugu Bo and other Titled Douluo defend him 157 159.

Bibi Dong exposes Xiao Wu as a Hundred-Thousand-Year soul beast, but Li Zhixian’s revelation of Twin Martial Souls soon becomes her overriding concern. Viewing his talent as a threat to Spirit Hall’s continental domination, she orders his death at any cost 160 162.

In Spirit Calendar Year 679, Li Zhixian’s life-risking sword strike pierces her chest and pins her to the sacred mountain. Although apparently killed, she survives and continues her campaign against him 166 227.

Soul Hunting Plan and Star Dou Forest

Five years later, news that Li Zhixian has killed Salas and destroyed the Heaven Dou Branch Hall intensifies Bibi Dong’s concern. She considers him as important a target as an Upper Three Sect and orders attacks on the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan to remove his protectors 227.

The attack on the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect fails, costing Spirit Hall Demon Bear and Ghost Leopard Douluo. Recognizing Li Zhixian’s involvement, Bibi Dong resolves to eliminate him personally and enters Star Dou Forest with an elite entourage 241 242 245.

There, she battles Li Zhixian, four Titled Douluo, the Titan Giant Ape, and the Sky Azure Bull Python. Li Zhixian severely injures her and beheads her in Spirit Calendar Year 684, but her divinely altered body survives. She reattaches her head, offers to spare the allied sects and soul beasts in exchange for him, and retreats when they refuse 246 247 248.

Secret Realm and Imperial Rule

Bibi Dong presents the Rakshasa Secret Realm as a resource-rich battlefield for the Seven Great Sects’ reselection. Its apparent generosity earns public praise, while Li Zhixian and his allies suspect a trap. When Qian Renxue enters to help him, Bibi Dong seals the breach in the light screen 264 278.

Inside the realm, Li Zhixian meets Bibi Dong’s severed benevolent will. The manifestation reveals that its destruction is part of the Rakshasa Eighth Trial, but also helps him develop his Leakless Body and comprehend Purifying Sword Intent. Bibi Dong completes the trial and subsequently announces the Spirit Hall Empire 284 286 288.

Her coronation is followed by policies that increase Soul Master subsidies, provide discounted family housing in satellite cities, and recruit Soul Masters into imperial legions. At the same time, craftsmen forge armor and war equipment. She later invades Star Luo under the pretext of pursuing fallen soul masters 309 310 312.

War and Defeat

Bibi Dong’s purpose extends beyond conquest: she intends to destroy Spirit Hall’s foundations, sever the Qian family’s Angel Inheritance, and use war’s death and resentment to complete the Rakshasa Ninth Trial. She threatens the Worship Hall into participating and reveals an undead Soul Master army 328.

Qian Daoliu blocks her attempt to reach Li Zhixian’s battlefield. Their clash, followed by the King of Slaughter’s involvement, causes immense destruction and leaves the combatants badly injured. Bibi Dong gains custody of Qian Daoliu and later uses both him and the imprisoned Qian Renxue to pressure the Worship Hall 333 334 336 347 350.

During the renewed war, Li Zhixian devastates her with Ya Zi’s causality-based abilities. When he interrupts her Immortal Body activation, her Spider Emperor’s Bridal Garment transfers her injuries to the King of Slaughter instead, killing him and supplying energy for her attempted ascension 355 356.

Qian Renxue eventually captures her. The enshriners prevent an immediate execution because Qian Daoliu’s whereabouts remain unknown. Holy power blocks Bibi Dong’s recovery, and she spends the following year imprisoned in the Angel Temple’s death row 362 386.

Atonement

When Li Zhixian visits the prison, Bibi Dong attacks him despite her injuries. He subdues her, destroys her evil consciousness with purifying and spiritual sword intent, and restores the benevolent consciousness he recovered from the Rakshasa Secret Realm. She awakens remorseful and chooses to spend her remaining life atoning; Qian Renxue does not immediately forgive her 387.

Bibi Dong subsequently travels the integrated Douluo Continent in patched clothing, protecting villages from fallen soul masters and carrying medicine for people in need. At Hundred Herbs Valley, she kills Yu Xiaogang and Liu Erlong after encountering their threats against its inhabitants, then continues her charitable journey 439 440.

On Li Zhixian and Qian Renxue’s wedding day in the first year of the New God Era, the couple visits her for a toast. Li Zhixian recognizes her work and grants her the title God Official of Suffering Passage, authorizing her to travel among mortals and through the myriad worlds to punish evil and promote good 440.

Appearance

Bibi Dong has an exquisitely beautiful face, violet eyes, and ink-black hair; her presentation changes from papal splendor to the worn clothing of a traveling penitent 156 157 347 439.

  • Papal attire: Magnificent long gowns, a pure-white cloak, and the Pope’s Scepter 156 159.
  • Imperial attire: A phoenix gown embroidered with purple patterns in golden thread and an eighteen-strand jade-bead crown 309.
  • Rakshasa corruption: Spreading purple markings, darkened or shattered-looking pupils, and spiderweb-like facial cracks during intense combat 159 162 309 333.
  • Benevolent manifestation: A plain white dress and a notably gentle, tranquil bearing 284.
  • Atonement attire: Patched linen or hemp clothing, a hood, frayed sleeves, and worn straw sandals 439 440.
  • Divine office mark: A Glazed Bottle-shaped mark appears on her brow when Li Zhixian appoints her 440.

Personality

As Pope and empress, Bibi Dong combines calculated public composure with vindictive obsession. She can restore an unruly crowd without openly losing dignity, offer an enemy an prestigious position, and maintain a benevolent public image while preparing war 147 156 310.

Her conflict with Qian Renxue reveals a particularly destructive view of affection. Li Zhixian perceives that she wants him to expose Qian Renxue’s identity so she can interpret it as a lover’s betrayal. Her fear of his potential later becomes inseparable from resentment over her repeated defeats 157 162 248.

Her cruelty is accompanied by careful preparation. She studies Li Zhixian’s revealed soul skills, devises a countermeasure against his ability interruption, and exploits both the King of Slaughter and the Worship Hall to pursue her objectives 328 355 356 359.

Her benevolent consciousness is patient, gentle, and capable of helping even an adversary. After its restoration, she accepts responsibility for her actions and turns toward practical service. During her travels, she stops measuring redemption by speed and remains committed to relieving suffering 284 286 387 440.
