Chapter 11: Song Manor Assessment
Song Manor
Lin Le looked up at the plaque above the door and walked in with Hou Guang.
A servant led the two to a room and said, "Young Master Hou, please wait a moment. There's one more person to introduce today."
As he finished speaking, the door opened, and two men walked out. One of them had a small mustache on his chin and a somewhat shriveled appearance.
Seeing two more people outside the door, the mustached man paused for a moment, then recognized one of them and said with a slightly mocking tone:
"Well, well, if it isn't little monkey, you're here today too? Huh, and you brought a little, little monkey."
The mustached man patted Hou Guang's shoulder. "I'm not saying you shouldn't try to make money, but you shouldn't bring a kid who hasn't even grown all his fur. If the master sees this, they'll think we're trying to scam them."
Hou Guang glanced at the mustached man and sneered, saying nothing. However, the disdain that emanated from him was clear without needing words.
He turned to the servant beside him and asked, "Can the person I recommended go in now?"
The mustached man's face immediately turned ugly. He hated it most when Hou Guang pulled this move. It was better to retort a few words than this.
But they were all bottom-feeders who had climbed up from the dirt. Who was nobler than whom? Yet Hou Guang looked down on him, not even bothering to speak.
The servant nodded. "Yes, he can."
Hou Guang looked at Lin Le. "Junior Brother Lin, you go in."
"Okay." Lin Le also stepped forward, not even glancing at the mustached man or the other man.
Unexpectedly, the man next to the mustached man suddenly stuck out his leg, blocking Lin Le's path. It looked like he intended to trip Lin Le to make him look foolish.
A cold glint appeared in Lin Le's eyes. He lifted his foot slightly and then stepped down.
Unexpectedly, the man reacted quickly. Seeing that the situation was unfavorable, he swiftly retracted his leg. However, his reaction speed was still a beat slower than Lin Le's.
He was spared the fate of a fractured shinbone, but he couldn't avoid having his foot stepped on.
Lin Le turned his head to look at the man, and he also let out a sneer, his disdain evident.
The man's face immediately turned the color of a pig's liver. He had already clenched his fists, but Lin Le just looked at him calmly, his gaze indifferent.
That dismissive look only made the man angrier. He took a quick step forward, and the mustached man whispered from the side, "Junior Brother Zhu, this is Song Manor!"
The man calmed down. He glanced at Lin Le, snorted coldly, and decided he would teach this kid a lesson after they left.
"Heh!" X2
Two sneers, as Lin Le and Hou Guang let out disdainful chuckles again.
The mustached man and the other man's faces turned the color of a pig's liver once more.
If the servant hadn't stepped in to block them, sensing the situation was about to escalate, these two would have likely thrown punches at Lin Le and Hou Guang.
"Let's go, Junior Brother Zhu. We'll have a chance to meet them again!" The mustached man's last sentence was almost spat out one word at a time.
Lin Le said nothing, just continued walking into the room.
Hou Guang made no move either, merely glancing sideways at the two before watching Lin Le enter.
This silent disregard only fueled the two men's anger, adding a trace of murderous intent to their hearts.
Upon entering the room, a woman who looked to be in her thirties looked up at Lin Le. "How strange, two people came today. Kid, take off your clothes."
Lin Le took off all his clothes. The woman glanced at him. "Take off your trousers too. What are you being shy about for a grown man."
Lin Le reluctantly took off his trousers as well.
The woman took his pulse and prodded him around before nodding with satisfaction. "At this age, it's longer than someone who's come of age. Not bad. Put your clothes back on, you passed."
With that, the woman turned and left, her steps a little awkward.
Lin Le put on his clothes, recited a calming mantra, and only left the room after his Blood Essence had stabilized.
"How was it? Did you pass?" Hou Guang asked when Lin Le came out.
"I passed." Lin Le nodded.
"Then let's move on to the next item." Hou Guang led Lin Le away.
On the way, Lin Le suddenly asked, "Senior Brother Hou, who were those two just now?"
"They're from the Wo Hu Martial Arts School," Hou Guang replied. "The one with the small mustache is Hu Zigui. He's a petty man with many insidious methods. You should be careful of him in the future. The other one should be Zhu Gaoyuan. He's already stuck at the mortal limit, just one step away from manifesting Blood Essence."
"Oh." Lin Le nodded thoughtfully. "You said that Hu Zigui is a petty man, so he must have done a lot of bad things, right?"
"He's done every evil deed imaginable," Hou Guang said, a hint of disgust in his eyes. "Some people have poor Bone Structure, and even if they learn martial arts, they won't get very far. He deceives these people and even lends them money."
"If they can't repay the money, he'll bleed them dry, causing countless fathers and sons to turn against each other and families to be destroyed."
"Then what's his strength like? Is he also a first-limit Martial Master?" Lin Le asked.
"He should still be," Hou Guang nodded. "Otherwise, with his smug, villainous nature, if he had broken through to the second limit, he would have already advertised it to everyone."
"Oh, I see." Lin Le nodded slightly, a sharp glint appearing in his eyes.
Hou Guang then asked in return, "Junior Brother Lin, why are you asking about his strength?"
"Didn't you tell me to be wary of him? So I should at least know the opponent's strength," Lin Le shrugged.
"That's true," Hou Guang said, not adding anything further.
Soon, they arrived at a reception hall. A refined middle-aged man sat in the main seat, with the mustachioed Hu Zigui and the man he brought, Zhu Gaoyuan, standing beside him.
Song Shanhai. Seeing the middle-aged man, Lin Le knew who he was. After all, Hou Guang had told him to pay special attention on the way.
Upon seeing Lin Le and Hou Guang approach, the middle-aged man, Song Shanhai, said, "Young Hou, you're here?"
"Greetings, Master Song. May you have ten thousand blessings," Hou Guang and Lin Le said, bowing.
"Let's skip the pleasantries," Song Shanhai waved his hand. "Coincidentally, Young Hu mentioned that the person he brought has good combat talent. Why don't you have your disciple give him a try?"
"But my junior brother has only been training for less than half a month. Isn't this asking a bit too much?" Hou Guang said anxiously.
"Half a month of training? Are you kidding me, Young Hou?" Song Shanhai's gaze shifted to Lin Le. The look made Lin Le's body tense up instantly. He felt as if his physical condition had been completely seen through by this Master Song.
"This young man's muscles are firm, and his steps are steady and powerful. I'd believe he'd trained for ten years, and you're telling me he's only trained for half a month?" Song Shanhai said.
Hou Guang glanced at Lin Le, recalling what he had seen. Even with his doubts, he could only stand firm and say, "It's absolutely true, Master Song."
Song Shanhai nodded slightly. "That's fine. Young man, are you willing to give it a try? I'll offer you a separate hardship fee, how about ten taels?"
Lin Le nodded slightly. "Okay."
Seeing that Lin Le had agreed himself, Hou Guang didn't say anything more. He could only watch as Lin Le and Zhu Gaoyuan went to the courtyard outside the hall.
Zhu Gaoyuan cracked his knuckles, making a popping sound as a show of force. He grinned menacingly, "Kid, I won't hold back later, so you'll have to bear with me!"
Lin Le looked at him calmly, merely beckoning with one hand. "Come."
Seeking death! Seeing Lin Le's dismissive attitude, Zhu Gaoyuan's eyes flashed red. He stomped his foot and charged at Lin Le like a ferocious tiger.
Zhu Gaoyuan's charge was reflected in Lin Le's eyes. Lin Le drew his right fist back to his side, very conspicuously.
Zhu Gaoyuan lunged with a claw towards Lin Le, his peripheral vision also focused on Lin Le's right fist. Then, he noticed Lin Le's lips curl into a sneer.
Crack!
Zhu Gaoyuan froze on the spot.
