In the car, Zhuang Xin called Qu Hongyun. Three seconds later, the call was connected.
Qu Hongyun: "Young Master Zhuang, what a surprise! How come you have time to call me? Did you get the car?"
"I got it!" Zhuang Xin nodded and continued, "I'm calling you this time because I need your help with something."
"Oh? Young Master Zhuang, whatever you need, just ask."
"Well..."
Zhuang Xin explained the situation with Cheng Huai to Qu Hongyun. Qu Hongyun was furious: "I can't believe there are scumbags like that. Don't worry, Young Master Zhuang. Give me some time, and I'll investigate this thoroughly for you."
After hanging up the phone, he placed his mobile on the car hood.
A few minutes later, a message arrived on Zhuang Xin's phone.
He stopped the car and opened it. It was a bank card transaction notification.
This bank card must have been the one Qu Hongyun had sent to his parents. The information within it was easy to trace.
The first transaction was at a bathhouse. The second was at a high-end residence. All subsequent transactions were from a place called Yaoxing Winery.
In just half a day, over a million had been spent.
"This Cheng Huai is an absolute idiot."
Zhuang Xin cursed as he drove, soon arriving at the last transaction location.
According to the information Qu Hongyun provided, this place was secretly an underground casino. Cheng Huai likely hadn't lost money in his business dealings over the years; he had accumulated gambling debts.
Half an hour later, he arrived at Yaoxing Winery. Following the information, Zhuang Xin entered a secluded small door from a corridor within the winery.
Upon entering, the scene inside changed dramatically.
Smoke filled the air, and the roars of boisterous gamblers echoed everywhere.
At a glance, Zhuang Xin spotted Cheng Huai at the counter, exchanging money for chips. Beside him was a young girl with dyed red hair and heavy smoky makeup, her original appearance obscured.
"Hurry! Exchange them, what are you hesitating for? Isn't all this money your family's? It's fine even if you use it," the young girl excitedly jumped up. She had never seen so much money in her life, over forty million in the card.
Cheng Huai gritted his teeth. Ever since he stole Zhuang De's White Jade Chess and accidentally learned the bank card password, he had fled with these items and hadn't dared to return.
He had been living it up outside for most of the day, and even the young girl he had never managed to get with before had been clinging to him half an hour ago.
All because of the forty million in the card!
Money!
This was money he couldn't earn in ten lifetimes.
In just the past half hour, he had lost over seven hundred thousand, but he didn't feel any heartache.
Because the money lost was just a drop in the bucket.
"Quick, Cheng Huai... keep exchanging chips, win back the money you just lost! You promised... if you won, you'd buy me bags and clothes..." The young girl forcefully pushed the bank card in his hand.
"Exchange! Exchange for a million in chips!" Cheng Huai's eyes turned red; he had lost all reason.
He was going to win back all the money he had just lost.
Seeing this, Zhuang Xin trembled with anger.
This bastard, still so reckless, gambling with his parents' bank card?
"Cheng Huai!"
Zhuang Xin's voice boomed in Cheng Huai's ears, startling him.
"Zhuang... Zhuang Xin..." Cheng Huai was stunned.
How had Zhuang Xin found him? He had been so careful.
"Cheng Huai, give me the card. Now." Zhuang Xin's face turned cold.
"Wh-why should I give it to you? This... this is my aunt's card, not yours... Besides, you're my cousin. Your mom is my aunt. What's wrong with spending a little money? It's just a fraction of it." Shamelessly, Cheng Huai snatched the card from the table and tucked it into his chest.
Seeing Cheng Huai's utter lack of shame, Zhuang Xin laughed in anger.
When his mother had gone back to borrow money for medical treatment, his aunt's family had acted as if his mother was there to rob them. Even after repayment, they hadn't shown any kindness, clearly afraid his mother would come back asking for more money.
And now, after spending over a million, he asked "What's wrong with it?"
Not to mention, the White Jade Chess that was stolen was worth tens of millions.
"Since you won't give it to me, you can explain yourself to the other inmates in prison," Zhuang Xin said, taking out his phone to make a call.
Stealing over fifty million, the consequences were predictable.
"Zhuang Xin! No matter what, I'm your cousin. What are you doing?"
Cheng Huai, terrified, ran over and grabbed Zhuang Xin's hand.
If he called the police now, his life would be over.
"Cousin? Do you really think I have any familial affection for you?" Zhuang Xin flicked Cheng Huai's hand away as if he were an idiot.
Cheng Huai swallowed, pushed the bank card from his chest into Zhuang Xin's hand, and said, "The card is here. You... just pretend nothing happened. Family matters should be resolved within the family."
"Oh? Where's the White Jade Chess?" Zhuang Xin narrowed his eyes.
"The White Jade Chess... I, I gave it to Ah Cai." He looked nervously at the little punk beside him.
As soon as the little punk heard this, she immediately shrieked, "What? He gave me the chess set? You want it back? Dream on! Once something's given away, there's no taking it back."
With that, the little punk, flustered, tried to bolt, but Zhuang Xin grabbed her. "Trying to leave? I'd like to see who's dreaming, you or me."
"What? You gonna hit a woman? I didn't do anything wrong. This chess set was a gift from Cheng Huai, and I was even his girlfriend." The little punk, utterly shameless and unrestrained, yelled at Zhuang Xin righteously.
Cheng Huai, terrified of the situation escalating, said with a crestfallen face, "Zhuang Xin... that White Jade Chess is still in the hotel room. I have the key. I'll go back with you to get it."
"Hmph." Zhuang Xin let go of the little punk, his expression improving considerably.
The little punk, however, went ballistic and slapped Cheng Huai across the face. "You scumbag! You're done with me and now you're just trying to wash your hands of it. Let me tell you, I'm not someone you can bully. I'll settle this with you sooner or later."
Cheng Huai flinched after being slapped and didn't dare say another word.
Adding insult to injury, the little punk's long fingernails left four bloody gashes on Cheng Huai's face, tearing off a layer of flesh. Blood flowed uncontrollably...
The surrounding gamblers were drawn to the scene and started jeering.
Zhuang Xin ignored them and turned to leave.
The two returned to the hotel and retrieved the White Jade Chess.
"Zhuang Xin, cousin... I've given you the item. Can we just let this go?" Cheng Huai returned the chess set, thinking the matter was settled.
After all, they were relatives.
Cheng Huai's mother was Zhuang Xin's mother's older sister. He couldn't possibly get his own relative sent to jail, could he?
"Let it go? That depends on whether my parents have cooled down." Zhuang Xin grabbed Cheng Huai by the collar and shoved him into the car, heading back to Green Bud County Town. He had no intention of letting Cheng Huai off the hook so easily.
