Background / History
Sword Elder originated from the Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion but was transported to the Northern Shu Continent by a spatial vortex while still a Foundation Establishment cultivator. Unable to cross the perilous sea without Nascent Soul strength, he joined the Vast Array Sect and preserved the pavilion's lineage there. 211
Through Sword Elder, Li Yuanba became an external disciple of both the Vast Array Sect and Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion. After Sword Elder entered seclusion for his Nascent Soul breakthrough, he entrusted Li Yuanba with the Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion Scroll and responsibility for continuing the Northern Shu Continent branch of the inheritance. 211 274
Li Yuanba later returned to the pavilion proper after advancing to Nascent Soul. His registration identified him as the one hundred and fifteenth-generation disciple, and he was assigned a Nascent Soul-zone cave dwelling. 573 575
Organization & Doctrine
- The pavilion is a sect of Sword Cultivators whose members cultivate the Sword Intent Soaring Art as their common main cultivation method. This gives their Spiritual Power the same nature and permits coordinated combined attacks. 721
- Its members prize direct combat, treating battle as the fastest method to temper sword intent; prolonged secluded cultivation without battle is considered limiting to a Sword Cultivator's future achievements. 582 989
- The pavilion’s ordinary cave dwellings are deliberately sparse: a main hall, sword chamber, sword-testing room, and storeroom. The sword chamber concentrates both Spiritual Qi and sword-intent energy. 575
- The sect does not maintain a mortal territory for selecting disciples. Instead, it recruits cultivators with exceptional sword-path talent and uses its Sword Intent Blessed Land to help suitable candidates comprehend their own sword intent. 575 781
- External recruitment is stricter than entry through the mountain gate: a candidate must possess both peak sword-path talent and existing sword intent. 575
- A Sword Intent Soaring Scroll can serve as proof of external lineage and authorize its holder to accept one disciple on the pavilion’s behalf, subject to the sect’s standards. 575
Inheritances & Sacred Sites
Sword Intent Soaring Art
The Sword Intent Soaring Art is an ancient, metal-attribute Sword Cultivator inheritance. It tempers sword intent internally while also absorbing compatible external sword intent, allowing practitioners to strengthen their own intent through environments such as Ten Thousand Swords Peak and the Sword Intent Blessed Land. 211 216
- The inheritance is said to have produced five ancestors who ascended to the upper realm. 211
- Its Nascent Soul practitioners form a cultivation-technique rune short sword within the Nascent Soul; newly comprehended sword intents can manifest within this foundation. 576 600
- The art includes practical secret arts such as Flying Sword Message Transmission and Flying Sword Object Transmission. 248 594
Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion Scroll
The Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion Scroll is a concealed magical treasure depicting the pavilion on a cloud-wreathed mountain peak. It serves as a lineage relic, identity record, and medium through which Sword Cultivators can access information concerning their lineage. 211 407 575
- Sword Elder used the scroll to initiate Li Yuanba into the pavilion’s lineage on the Northern Shu Continent. 211
- Nascent Soul Sword Cultivators record their information in the scroll, allowing others of the sect to know of their existence. 573
- The scene depicted in the scroll corresponds to Sword Blessed Land, the true location of the pavilion’s core disciples. 601
Sword Intent Blessed Land
The Sword Intent Blessed Land contains innumerable naturally formed and cultivator-left sword intents. New disciples may seek a sword intent compatible with themselves, reducing the difficulty of forming their own. 574
- Its abundant sword-intent energy makes it a dedicated cultivation environment for Sword Cultivators. 574 575
- The environment can strengthen both a cultivator’s sword intent and the sword intents carried by flying swords. 582 613
- Sword Peak is surrounded by islands used for sparring rather than agriculture. 575
Sword Blessed Land
Sword Blessed Land is the residence of the pavilion’s Core Disciples and possesses an even stronger sword-intent-nourishing environment than Sword Peak. 601
- Joining the Sword Clan Lineage automatically grants Core Disciple status, access to Sword Blessed Land, and a personal cave dwelling there. 601
- Li Yuanba’s Core Disciple cave dwelling was supplied with Great Cultivator-level Spiritual Meridian resources and fourth-grade furnishings. 601
Sword Intent Monument
The Sword Intent Monument is an ancient stele containing an overwhelmingly profound sword intent. The Jian Clan’s Shattering Void Sword Intent originated from it. 733
- It is opened only to the pavilion’s most talented Core Sword Cultivators. 1037
- Li Yuanba comprehended Chaos Sword Intent through study of the monument, though no other pavilion Sword Cultivator is known to have successfully done so. 894 1055
- Chaos Sword Intent surpasses the pavilion’s other sword intents in power, apart from the sword intent preserved within the monument itself. 1039
Sword Clan Lineage
The Sword Clan Lineage is a core lineage within the Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion associated with Shattering Void Sword Intent. 600 601
- Initiates bow before a scroll bearing the character “Sword”, from which a sword-intent short sword enters the disciple’s Nascent Soul and forms the Sword Clan Sword Scar. 601
- Membership grants Core Disciple status and access to Sword Blessed Land. 601
- Shattering Void Sword Intent is especially compatible with the Sword Intent Soaring Art and can form within its Nascent Soul rune short sword. 600
Resources & Defenses
- The pavilion’s main spiritual meridian was formed from an uncountable number of Great Cultivator-level spiritual meridians seized or gathered over countless years. 982
- Its mountain-gate grand formation can be reinforced by all sect Sword Cultivators. 1033
- One of its foundations is the accumulated sword intent left behind by generations of Sword Cultivator Great Powers; if released, these remnants can threaten even a Great Power’s main body. 1033
- The pavilion established a Space Receiving Formation with a radius of one million li, granting its Sword Cultivators a long-range emergency escape method. 757
- The sect refuses to freely share this Space Receiving Formation technology with other superpowers. 757
Activities & Reputation
Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion is feared for retaliating against attacks on its Sword Cultivators, particularly cases where higher-realm cultivators prey upon weaker disciples. Its response is intended to deter future attacks and can escalate into broad revenge missions. 613 749
- The pavilion launched coordinated attacks that destroyed all ten Far Sailing Boats of Azure Sky Commerce after its cultivators attacked Sword Cultivators of the sect. 613 615
- It sent Sword Cultivator Great Cultivators and Far Sailing Boats to continue its conflict with the White Emperor Sect on the Western Yan Continent. 707
- The pavilion’s members commonly seize enemy mountain gates for use as operational footholds and open Mission Halls there to support further campaigns. 708
- Its Sword Cultivators’ aggressive conduct and high individual combat strength make merchant guilds and rival forces reluctant to provoke it. 944
- The sect’s reputation was further amplified by Li Yuanba’s continuous combat missions, which strengthened its influence across the Central Continent. 933 944
Relationships
- Sword Elder — Senior Sword Cultivator of the pavilion; preserved its Northern Shu Continent lineage, guided Li Yuanba, and later protected the sect during Li Yuanba’s advancement. 211 1033
- Li Yuanba — One hundred and fifteenth-generation disciple; Core Disciple of the Sword Clan Lineage and a major combatant for the pavilion. 575 601
- Jian Wuwei — Sword Intent Soaring Pavilion Sword Cultivator and Li Yuanba’s master; his return restored his connection to the sect’s main branch. 598 733
- Martial Grand-Uncle Wu — Pavilion Sword Cultivator who escorted Li Yuanba back to the sect and assisted his Nascent Soul advancement. 572 574
- Ten Thousand Beasts Sect — Formal ally; the alliance gives the pavilion priority access to Li Shiming’s alchemy assistance. 909
- Luan Phoenix Palace — Friendly allied superpower that later received a Space Receiving Formation through an agreement with the pavilion. 790
- Great Thunderclap Temple — Allied through a separate agreement and granted access to a Space Receiving Formation because of Hongfa Honored One’s connection. 790
- White Emperor Sect — Longstanding enemy; its Invisible Yuan Magnetism divine ability is particularly dangerous to the pavilion’s metal-attribute flying-sword methods. 607 1019
Trivia
- The pavilion has existed for more than ten thousand years. 575 1037
- Its Sword Cultivators are fewer in number than many superpowers because sword-path talent is rare, even with the sect’s specialized recruitment methods. 781
- The sect’s unified cultivation method allows its members’ Spiritual Power to integrate more easily in group techniques. 721
- Sword Cultivators of the pavilion regard their natal flying swords as lifelong companions; Jian Wuwei explicitly states that a Sword Cultivator does not need a Dao companion. 909
